Anticipations, a 1901 book by H.G. Wells, is a collection of prognostications for the 20th century, and was Wells' first nonfiction best seller. Covering topics like urban growth, transportation systems, societies, language, war, democracy, and public policy, it sets out the author's ideas of what the world would be like 100 years later, in the year 2000. Wells was wrong in some aspects and quite right in others. He expected a single worldwide government with one official language, one global religion, and universal peace.

As was the case for many Victorian classic novels, H. G. Wells's The Time Machine was first published as a serial in the magazine The New Review. However for publication of The Time Machine as a book, an entire chapter was cut out by Wells himself. Here is that excised chapter, originally Chapter 11, detailing the Time Traveller's adventures in the far future, complete with an afterword tracing the history of this missing text.

The Invisible Man (1897) is one of the most famous science fiction novels of all time. Written by H.G. Prolific in many genres, he wrote dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, history, satire, biography and autobiography.
