About this listen

Tegan is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn't realize she's heading straight into a blizzard.

She never arrives at her destination.

Stranded in rural Maine with a dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she's made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

But something isn't right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn't what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.

And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.

A gut-wrenching story of motherhood, survival, and twisted expectations, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden delivers a snowbound thriller that will chill you to the bone.

This book was one of her worst. Several times during this book, if someone would have just had a 30 second conversation, major disaster could have been averted. And it was poorly written convos like “I have to tell you something important” / another character walks in and says “leave” / character leaves and doesn’t finish sentence. Laughable, really.

Why don’t people just talk to each other

I really thought I had this one figured out. I even told my husband I had worked out a Freida book half way through…”I’m so good at this!” Um, no! I never would’ve guessed!!!! Loved the twists!!!! The characters are relatable and easy to follow. Love this narrator….her voice was soothing and also somehow creepily calm at times. Great read!!!!

She’s done it again!

Finished in 1 day! Riveting thriller! Clean, engaging storytelling with great narration! Loved it like all Freida’s books!

I highly recommend this book!

Very, very good book, i highly recommend. I listened to this book within a day and a half. Kept me wanting to find out what was going to happen. I love when Leslie Howard narrates the book, she reads with a lot of emotion and that keeps me interested in wanting to listen.

The Crash was okay, but it didn’t really deliver the impact I was hoping for. The storyline felt somewhat predictable, and honestly, I didn’t encounter any mind-blowing twists or turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. It had potential, but it didn’t live up to the hype I had built around it. While it wasn’t terrible, it just lacked that gripping element that makes a story truly memorable.

Honestly disappointed

The performance was so dramatic it was almost laughable. She gave away subtle plot elements simply by being so over the top with most characters besides Hank.

Regarding the writing, plot twist was soft compared to her other books. And I got really annoyed with her using “eye watering” almost exclusively when describing pain.

Not her best and probably not her worst

Part of my job involves handling mentally ill patients in crisis. I felt like there was very little medical consulting done on the author’s part because there’s so many implausibles that I couldn’t buy into the story. It might as well have been fantasy..

Multiple personality disorder not well done

It was good, could be better. I was expecting the plot twist to be more intense like other she’s written. The first time I guessed the twist.

Mother’s Love

Well worn and predictable plot, all too close to the movie “Misery”. I thought this author was better than that. Convoluted ending.

“Misery” ripoff

I thought the very story was slow and somewhat predictable. The narrator was a little too dramatic. She also did not pause or change tone between the characters speaking and thinking. I would not recommend this book to a friend.

Meh~
