About this listen

Contains books one and two of the 24/7 Demon Mart series.

The Graveyard Shift, book one

Lloyd Wallace is the most clueless crossing guard the intersection of hell and earth has ever seen. So clueless, that he doesn't even realize the beer cave in the corner store where he works is the gateway to hell.

The gate needs a hero, but Lloyd's a zero, a loser with a capital L. He had no money and no prospects until the night he accidentally slayed a one-eyed tentacle monster hellbent on world domination. And, impressed by his pure heart and bravery, the suave but devilish owner of the 24/7 Dairy Mart gave Lloyd a job.

His coworkers - a karate-chopping bombshell and a talking roach with a really bad attitude - need Lloyd's help to keep the demons in line. Can he man up and become a world-saving hero? Or, will he remain a couch-surfing zero? The fate of the world is on the line. What could go wrong?

Monster Burger, book two

One loser, one karate-chopping bombshell, and one talking cockroach stand between you and the zombie apocalypse.

Demon Mart has a serious pest problem. Shoddy construction has compromised the gate. Even the neighborhood is in flux, now that the Monster Burger across the street has a snooty new owner with a personal beef against the Demon Mart staff. And Lloyd Wallace, one-time world-saving hero, is too scared to leave his house. He's had a bit of trouble dealing with the fact that zombies are real.

When the store's living dead staff get restless, and human customers start shuffling around, absolutely starving, ready to eat anything they can get their hands on, it's clear 24/7 Demon Mart has a big problem. It's ground zero for the zombie apocalypse.

It's up to DeeDee, Lloyd, and Kevin to save the day - again. But Lloyd will have to conquer his crippling fear long enough to do his job?

Includes bonus content: Hell for the Holidays, a 24/7 Demon Mart Christmas special.

The high-energy narration perfectly complemented the pop-culture reference-laced humor used to tell the tale of dealing with the real life demons of high debt and a low paying job. I also loved Steve's ( "don't be a jag off") Pittsburgh dialect. Overall, these stories are great diversions from the Poe-like atmosphere of our current time. Please keep these books coming.

An entertaining combination of horror and comedy.

I though it was great. Definitely give this a shot. The only thing I noticed was the character voices were a bit different in the holiday special. Loved the story though. I definitely will keep an eye out for more.

I want more of this.

The performance is amazing and the story is ridiculous and amazing. I definitely recommend. I couldn’t atop listening and I’m sad it’s done.

I love these stories. The performance was just as good as the books. I hope there is another book soon. I am hooked. If you hate laughing or being entertained don’t buy this book. It was so good that unfortunately I listened to it almost nonstop and finished more quickly than other books. This is a ten out of ten.

Wonderful story line!

This was funny and kept me listening. Wish there were more books. Loved that the narrator did the voices.

Really enjoyed this

I recommend Ingoring the other comments about "noise". The voice actor goes all in and does an amazing job at it.
If you dont take things too seriously and love funny Sci-Fi/horror comedy stories, I recommend this audible book.

If you've listened to, or read any A. Lee Martinez or Barry J. Hutchinson novels, you'll enjoy this for sure.

Funny and addicting!

The book feels like a compilation of episodes of kids show series - something bad comes to store and it's defeated by a stupid/funny guy. It starts as interesting and gets less and less so, as the premise repeats itself over and over again.
The narrator is amazing and makes the story feel alive. Yeah, he is sometimes a bit over the top but I enjoyed it immensely, it felt right for the overall goofiness of the book.

Repetitive story with superb narrator

This book was great. Not as funny as Tales from the Gas Station but it still had me laughing out loud many times. I love horror comedies though

So funny

This is one of those books that kept popping up in my recommendations for a while. Peers and friends kept tossing this out as "must read!" And like an idiot, I kept pushing back. Damn I was dumb.

24/7 Demon Mart: Publisher's Pack is SO MUCH FUN. I reckon a quick elevator pitch would be "Clerks meets Evil Dead" but that doesn't do it justice. The premise is that Llyod Wallace is a 21yr old loser... mostly. We all know the person/friend who started in life, had a setback or two, then ended up back living w/the their parents. And that's Lloyd. In a personal hole that's hard to climb out of for fear of failing again. So when the opportunity comes to work at the convenience store that happens to also contain a portal to Hell comes along, coming-of-age comedy ensues.

I've read some of the reviews that call this cartoonish--but in a negative way. I politely disagree. The tone is established right off the bat in the 1st person POV story. You know very quickly the kind of humor, antics, and insanity that the author is presenting. And I love it for that. And sometimes I like when the MC is not the bold type. Llyod is brave because you have to do the right thing in the face of fear to be brave.

So in the end, I love this book. DM Guay's writing--partnered with the amazing Todd Haberkorn (Drifter rules!) narration--made buying the next two audiobooks an easy sell for me. And as my review title states, as another indie author, I'm freaking jealous as Hell.

I'm Flat Out Jealous
