Publisher's summary

A mystery/road trip/buddy comedy/action adventure from the author of Second Hand Curses.

A dance club full of bodies. Cause of death - a mystery. The lone survivor - a man, raving like a lunatic, wearing only a deerstalker hat.

Now, the man who calls himself Sherman Holmes is being studied like a lab rat by a top-secret government agency. How is it he can be barely clinging to reality one minute - yet be a seeming genius the next? Within his brain might just be the greatest scientific breakthrough of the millennium, if anyone can figure out how to access it.

Enter the agent code named Watson.

Once a rising star, a deadly betrayal sent him spiraling into uncertainty and paranoia. Now saddled with moving Sherman to a more-secure facility, he must prove he’s still up to the task. With enemies on their heels, a whole country to cross, and Sherman ranting in his ear, the job proves to be more of a challenge than Watson ever anticipated.

With Watson’s experience and the bizarre insights of his own twisted mind, Sherman just might survive. But can Watson survive Sherman?

Loads of Fun

Drew Hayes knocks it out of the park again. If I weren't familiar with his work, I might have felt the premise to be overly silly and decided to pass it up. However, Drew always has an interesting angle and the ability to write great characters, and his stories always hit all the right notes for me.
As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum, this story (and hopefully series) hit on a lot of apsects on the relationship I have with my child. While I'm not sure it was intentional because Sherman isn't autistic, he shares some similiar symptoms and habits, which made the characters even more relatable for me.
The narrator was the icing on the cake. He performed this story wonderfully.

Very Entertaining

So far I am enjoying this series very much. Sherman Holmes reminds me of a Sherlock version of Chuck. With Zachary Levi's natural energy I could totally see him playing this character. :)

fun, if somewhat corny, Holmesian romp

Drugs, secret agents and mad scientists surround a cross country race to secure a victim of advanced mind altering drugs.

took me some time to warm up to it

I'm a big fan of a lot of Drew Hayes work. It took me a little time to warm up to the main characters in this book. However about halfway through the book I started to warm up to them and to their cop buddy dynamic. I will likely buy another book if Drew decides to write another one in this series.

Such a fun light-hearted story. Easy listen.

Such a fun, light-hearted story. It was a little slow in the beginning, but I became hooked and it turned out to be a sweet, easy listen.

Fun All The Way

Not so serious fun story. The narrator was excellent. I plan on looking for other books by this author.

I was expecting a run of the mill buddy cop book.

As the title suggests I had gotten this book because it is by Drew Hayes and I love his other work, I am not normally for books like these, however a good author is a good author right?

This book was so much more than I was expecting, the pacing is quick but you are kept up to speed right along with it, its got action, twists, a hint of drama and a moment or two of genuine heart pulling. This was a great example Drew Hayes' talent with writing a novel of more than just fantasy.

Scott Aiello does a fantastic job reading the parts, his voice changes very well to fit a good deal of characters and its never hard to figure out who is speaking. Talent such as his can be hard to find and I'm very happy to say he makes this book an easy listen.

I gave this book a perfect score; I know many, many books should not get a perfect score but this book has earned it. There is even a nice bit at the very end that makes you excited for the next book in the series, if you like mystery, action, plot twists and an all around good story, pick this up!
