Publisher's summary

A private server. A digital playground. An alliance of the world's most sadistic, most depraved minds. A place to bring their prey, to hone their skills.

Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. Survival horror. One of the most brutal, most terrifying full-immersion games ever made. A place where fantasy characters such as elves and dwarves clash with technology, where giant monsters roam the hills, entrusted with protecting the gates of heaven from the demons who would tear it all down.

A game where one plays the last of the battlefield surgeons: a healer tasked with keeping the behemoths alive at all costs.

But on this server, they don't care about the game. That's not why they're here. They've come because of the game's most unique feature: full pain. Realistic anatomy. The ability to bring their victims well beyond the body's normal breaking point. And most importantly, the ability to bring them back and do it all over again.

Trapped in a bloody, merciless nightmare, Duke only has one goal: to survive. And in order to survive, he must play the game. He must win the game. And to do that, he must become the most cruel, most ruthless monster of them all.

Its truly horror, it fits firmly in that square.

This book is a horror litrpg book that delves into the mines and play ground of terrible people (understatement). The main character gets trapped in a what I can only describe as a hellhole. Thus in this hellhole he has to suffer through much (understatement) to find away out of the game. He suffers continual physical and psychological throughout the book.

I have to say it's well written and well preformed; and Joe deserves a medal (understatement).

Personally, I dislike horror, however the author's writing is always interesting so I gave it a try. He wrote it well and that makes me worry about him.

If your into horror and all its associate trigger warnings this book is for you, if your like me curious and of strong constitution, I'll say perhaps. If the throught of blood and it's associate fluid make you faint this book is not for you.(understatement)

An amazing horrible amazing book

Kaiju is the most intense book I've read in years. It's disturbing and enthralling. It even brought out a couple of tears at one point, which is not usual for me. It's not for the faint hearted. For good or bad it's going to stay with me for a long time.

Hmmmm

I am a huge fan of DCC and read this because of it. The story is really dark, lots of torture, gross stuff, and nothing is alright. I can deal with that but it was also very slow and frankly I didn’t care very much about the MC. Things happened that made me empathize about the MC but I didn’t have any other attachment to them.

I know some people loved this one but too slow for me and very dark.

What is life?

long story short. I loved this story. now for the long story I am new to this authors material but in everything that I have read/listened to from him. He puts life into his fantasy worlds. He makes you care for the characters and experiencing their emotions as you are beside them everything step of the way. Give it a listen Joe Hemple also puts personality in every voice that he chooses it really helps you visualize the characters in the book in a different light.

Wow that was something

For starters that was to much, but it was a grand ending. The book is brutal in a lot of aspects and don't suggest it for younger crowds at all. The story has a lot of directions it takes and it's done amazingly well. I don't think I have the ability to say what hasn't been said in the other reviews cause they're more or less accurate. What I have to contribute is the rating for the story that was given. It was good in its own weird way, I'll probably never read it again but glad I did. I suggest the read but it is as I say and the main Character "Way to Much"

Gross and Compelling

This book is kind of gross. But following Duke around I can understand his motivations. The surprise twist at the end was amazing. I’m sad that he’s such a broken man after the events of Kaiju: battlefield surgeon.

Wow...

I just finished the book.

That was one hell of a ride. If you are into the LITRPG genre, this is a fantastic book. Great job to the author and narrator!

decent

Overall the story I good. it is well written and keeps you on your toes. However, the prologue is quite a let down. Not that it doesn't make sense, it just leaves the protagonist in a bad place.
