Slightly Ridiculous and Seriously Entertaining

This book definitely takes inspiration from other LitRPGs like dungeon crawler Carl, but the author has his own ideas and a clear direction. Nothing is truly ripped off and instead has its own flavor or twist thrown onto it. Take a chance on this book! You won’t regret it.

Great, fun series

I loved this book. Running a shop while being a top tier dungeon explorer is such a fun take. I also loved the Croc character, its refreshing to have an upbeat sidekick instead of the classic snarky cynic. I will also use this space to request a Spooge sock golem or some other type of Spooge sock monster. The people have spoken. I hope this series goes for at least 10 books, can’t wait to read more.

Fun book

I usually prefer more serious books but I’ll admit that this one got me chuckling a few times. Living through the 90s, I feel like some of the jokes were made for me. The world was weird, creepy and cool. Dan was a fun MC but his dog was the star. The narration was really good.

What a great start…

This book was so fun… Very creative. I love the world building, shop building, and relic forging. I am very excited for the next installment. The author did a great job and narration was great.

A great new twist on LTRPG

At first I wasn't sure how this story was going to turn out. It surprisingly pulled me in. A fun weird tale of an alternate reality.

DCC fans need to check out DD.

James Hunter has come out with such a fun and awesome new adventure. Discount Dan is cram packed with a ton of nostalgia and epic crazy fun that will leave you wanting more. I feel confident to day that DD is the closest mimic to DCC within the LitRPG genre so far. This book is a solid must buy and I can't wait for book 2.

A rare treat.

While anyone can nitpick and find -something- to whine about with any story (the power scaling math didn't really math for me in some places), overall, this was completely solid. It was a fun romp through an absurdist setting, providing genuine laughs, lots of interesting action, and a decent enough plot - especially for this genre.

The narrator was excellent, the story length was satisfying, and Croc is 100% the bestest and goodest boy.

Making a cohesive story out of the absurd.

When I picked up this book I didn't think I would like it. I am happy to say that is not the case. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last. Cannot wait till the next book it combines rpg elements in an unfamiliar environment.
