Their tests produced a baby chick large enough to be mistaken for a buzzard, and when the substance was consumed by rats, they grew bigger than horses.

The Star by H.G. Wells is about a strange luminous object which erupted into the solar system, after disturbing the orbit of Neptune. The object creates havoc with Jupiter and attracts the moon away from the earth, whose surface suffers much upheaval. Many of the survivors move to the polar areas, where the climate has become temperate

"Little Wars" is a set of rules for playing with toy soldiers. Its full title is "Little Wars: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty". "Little Wars" includes fairly simple rules for infantry, cavalry, and naval artillery in the form of a toy 4.7 inch gun that launched projectiles, usually small wooden dowels to knock down enemy soldiers.
