About this listen

A hilarious new Isekai LitRPG adventure perfect for fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl and Full Murderhobo.

Conquer ancient dungeons. Get rewarded. Grow stronger.

After being killed by a high-velocity tree-hug, Arlo is transported to a new world where those brave and talented enough to conquer ancient Delves are rewarded with incredible power and abilities.

Unfortunately for Arlo, there is no tutorial. He is immediately forced to tackle a Delve set to the highest difficulty with a party of adventurers who are not only strangers to him, but strangers to each other as well.

Arlo has no armor, no weapons, no knowledge of the world at large, and his party is growing increasingly suspicious of his lack of preparation and paper-thin excuses for how he got there.

There's also the fact that the System in charge seems to be treating Arlo's situation like a big, cosmic joke.

Determined not to die again, Arlo forgoes putting any points into his highest stat, Intelligence, and instead dumps everything he's got into Fortitude. After all, who needs equipment or fighting skills when you can eat fireballs for breakfast and still ask for more hot sauce?

Mage Tank begins a new Isekai LitRPG adventure that features steady progression, intelligent characters who spend time making intentional build choices, and tons of laughs. It’s not action all-the-time, but Arlo’s life is replete with danger and, more importantly, consequences.

Wow! I loved this book right from the get go. This is the story of Arlo his second life starts as he minding his business riding his bike to work when he's clipped by a car and he careens off the road into a tree! Arlo doesn’t waste any time on his character build, getting his hair and beard back and he even gets back a few years... But he's also given a time limit to work out all the stats and where to place them, before he's dumped into a creation delve. And with a team of strangers, of course the dungeon is doin it's best to end them! And boy oh boy just wait 'til you meet Grotto!!! I know you'll love if just as much as I do... So grab the audiobook and treat yourself to Daniel Wisniewski nuanced performance.

Hey here's something that's sure to amuse you:

"Once we were done roleplaying a group of hobbits in a potato patch..."

Wow! And with a snarky, really snarky gaming system you'll have a blast

some authors just know how to write. Yes it's funny, the story is interesting and engaging and yes the narration is on point. Who wouldn't want to read it?

Yes.

Why does he keep saying “Pause”? I need fifteen words to submit a review? Weird.

Lot to enjoy about this book. Unfortunately, like many stories, the MC is self important, kinda dumb, and makes constant pop culture references that make me think the author’s never touched a woman. A reference to some random pop culture thing is not humor, it’s being annoying. Honestly getting really tired of these MCs that preach about morality like everyone’s an idiot and think themselves funny because they know obscure video game and movie references. This book could be amazing if MC wasn’t such a loser.

Good plot, writing, world building… MC is ok

After reading LitRPG books such as the primal hunter, Rise of the living Forge along with other similar ones, this stands out as the funniest. It has many real life modern comedic moments. Unlike other books the author does a great job and actually writes them in a way that had me laughing throughout without making it sound like cheap comedy. The main character is enjoying and relatable it his way of dealing with the unknown and dangerous situations. Although the story lacks the world building other books have it still is only the first book allowing growth. Everything else is phenomenal. The voice author does a phenomenal job throughout the entire book.

One of the better LitRPG books I’ve listened too.

This was a fun book. Funny snarky dialogue and cultural references. In too many books, that kind of stuff comes across as too forced and isn't funny. Not the case here. Very funny. Daniel Wisniewski, as usual, provided excellent narration. A second book hasn't been announced at the time of this review, but I expect there probably will be one, and I'm looking forward to it.

Fun story, laugh out loud moments, great narration
