LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. A fun and interesting read!

I have been reading this series on for a long time now and I am excited to see it in e-book and audible format, especially with my favorite narrator!

The author does an excellent job of telling an interesting story with great development of both plot and individual characters.

The LITRPG mechanics are explained well and the book is accessible, even for people who have not previously read this genre. 100% recommend this book for fans of the genre and newbies as well.

The best compliment I can give is that the story is interesting and I keep wanting to know what happens next. I think that's the hallmark of a great book.

The story was interesting and the narration excellent

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars across the board is the ending. It feels like the author just decided randomly to end the first book with absolutely zero forethought and no conclusion the listener is just left hanging. Do a better job with the next book please there was no resolution and quite honestly took away from what would have been a wonderful experience.

absolutely loved the story and performance

I was recommended this book by a friend of mine and wasn't top sure what to expect. I found myself becoming so attached to the characters and what was going on, I would turn off my TV and instead of playing a video game I owned, I would rather find out what happened next in this book. loved every bit of this story and I have every intention to buy the next one and the one after when it comes out.

Decent litrpg, bit light on plot

I enjoyed the first and second books but the story takes a back seat to a lot of the litrpg details. The first book could probably have been told in full in only 1/4 the amount of chapters and the second book followed that trend.
One particular theme which aggravated me throughout the books more than anything else is that the author seemed determined to make the MC as overpowered as possible but seemed too ashamed to just blatantly hand out overpowered abilities so instead you get pages and pages of the MC reading over completely stupid skills like 'simple thrust' and reasoning out as to why that skill is just not a good pick until finally they get to the rare skill and are like 'Wow this is good. I should get this.' only to see the UBER LEGENDARY skill and be like "oh well that rarity might mean its good... but I shouldn't blindly pick it because the system is telling me its opaf but let me reason it out for about a hundred pages and then pick that one every single time anyway".

Overall I did enjoy the books, although I did have to put in a little effort to stick with it. I probably will not continue beyond book two though.

Great book

Great book, love how the story kept developing in very good ways. The MC little OP in the start and the author balance that out with the MC study other things.

Great book

Great story and perfect choice for Travis, he's such a great narrator. I love the fact that it's a 20 hour book, the only con I'd say is whenever he has to read the status. It's a little annoying to hear repeatedly but it's understandable because it's supposed to show Jake's progress.

Ending failed to hook me in

The character writing is pretty good in this one but I'm not particularly tempted to continue the series. It's worth a listen, the PvP is better than in other litRPGs I've read. It actually feels like real people, where in other books it's as if the main character and maybe their friends are the only ones with human intelligence.

Solid Book

I enjoyed this story. It started a little slow but it was worth the credit and the listen. 87/100
