Enjoyable LITRPG

Some LITRPGs are going down a dark and depressing path full of gore and nastyness. This one, while violent, didn't do anything that would disturb my sleep at night. It's a solid start to a tale, and my only complaint is that the continuation of the story (book 2) isn't out at this time. It doesn't leave on a cliffhanger, but rather what feels like the end of a chapter.

The narration was excellent.

Great Game Focused LitRPG

This book was lighter on story and heavier on leveling, skills, and abilities. The story that was there was good: friendship, betrayal, and self discovery; and hinted at a larger world yet to come.

The leveling system was very MMO feeling with strong undertones of western cultivation. And we experience it in a deep close third POV—my favorite.

I read some negative reviews about the writing, saying it was hard to follow or something. It’s not at all. While I do wish the audio format would come up with some way to indicate new sections or POVs, as long as you are paying attention, the POV character announces themselves in their first few sentences every time.

Great story, very monotone performance.

I loved the story, but wasn't thrilled with the voice acting. it was very monotone through most of the story with the exception of the gods who they seemed to give now character to.

Really a well designed world

Great listen and can’t wait for book 2. The performance was excellent and really brought a well crafted story to life. Really like the original ideas and really enjoyed the story.

My first audiobook ever

I was so impressed! I was curious how different characters with one narrator would work but Travis Baldree was awesome and Zogarth wrote such a cool story.

I would have had them learn butchering

so that he could butcher the animals that he kills I bet the den mothers hide would have been pretty useful

enjoyable story

As my title says I enjoyed the story. For once on MC who didn't wine every 20 seconds about killing somebody or how hard life is he just got stuff done. So if you're tired of those other cry babies give this book a try.

Loved it!

Great book and for some reason it reminds me somewhat of either "He who fights monsters" or "Defience of the Fall" and i love both of them. Cant wait for more :)

It's just a game bro

No suspension of disbelief. Hey these characters started out in the modern world but have been transported to metaverse that is exactly like an rpg mmkay? It's meant to be experienced like that, instead of taking the story seriously you get to enjoy it as if you're leveling and powering up yourself.

It was alot of fun and the narrator did a great job on the different voices.
