Publisher's summary

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally - as the bait.

Some say don't...but I say...DEF DO

Look, everyone has their own opinions of what they like/dislike in books, and everything else for that matter. This book is no different...and it seriously all depends on what style you like your audiobooks to be read, the type of books you read, and such like that.

I haven't finished this yet, but I'm hooked. This is the very first audiobook I've ever delved into, and I'm in love with it. As a full-time mom and housewife, I honestly don't have time to sit down and get into a book. Not anymore. Not recently. So, I found that I can listen to my book of choice while I'm driving, cooking, cleaning, or even at night after I've put the kids to bed and I have a short bit of quiet to myself.

This is a young adult book, so yes this is written in a young adult form, from the perspective of a young adult/older teen. Someone called it a "knockoff Twilight" and in some small way, they're right. But not all books are the same, just similar in style or type. It is definitely NOT Twilight. For that, I'm grateful. I tried to read Twilight and I didn't get into it. The movies, sure, but not the books. Anyways, this isn't about Twilight. This is about a new series (well, new to me) and an author I just discovered.

This book has it all (so far). Suspense. Romance. Mystery. I find myself envisioning the book, as I always do when I read, and I find it captivating. It holds my attention, keeps me wanting to hear another chapter, and yearning to hear more and more.

Once again, anything you do, especially reading, is really about the person whose diving into the book. What that person enjoys. What that person likes to read or the way they like the person reading it (for audiobooks) to sound like. So, I'm not going to discourage anyone to walk away from this book. Even if I didn't care for it, which is completely opposite of how I feel (I LOVE it!!!), I encourage you to check out the sample and go from there. It's like reading the first few paragraphs. If it catches your attention, go for it! You won't be regretful. If not, then move on to a different one. This is an awesome read (or listen?) and anyone who enjoys a little romance, mystery, action, and some "paranormal" or otherworldly (sci-fi? fantasy?), then this is a book you could really sink your fangs into.

Go ahead. Take a bite.

You won't be disappointed.

Twilight Fanfiction

this is a mix of all the twilight fiction rolled into one set in Hogwarts in Alaska, it's a mix of Bella and Edward, Fifty Shades of Gray, Gabriel's Inferno and it's very modern. I didn't care for the ending though.

Not Sure How I Feel Yet

I just finished this story, so I'm not completely sure how I feel. It wasn't bad, but it was too unique either. It's a YA paranormal romance for sure.

If you like Twilight, then you may like this as well. Twilight was even mentioned in one chapter, which I thought was a cute moment to do so. The girl next door type meets the moody, mysterious vampire boy. Girl becomes friends with another boy, who likes her too much, and who is not exactly what he seems.

The conflict is pretty well thought out. You don't really figure out the villian until much later.

The performance was really good. I enjoyed listening to the narrator of Grace. Grace herself could get very annoying at times.

So yes, I would recommend it. But keep in mind what I said above.

Fantastic Ending

When I started listening to this book I wasn't sure if I would want to make it through, because I sometimes felt the main character was too childish/immature and weak. However, I am glad I decided to keep going, as the action and surprises in the second half were worth it. I will definitely look forward to where this story line goes next.

Predictable and Juvinile

Take a drink every time the main character says “Altitude Sickness”. It’s just alright, definitely not worth a credit

A really good book to listen to.

I really like the story here. It is entertaining and easy to get absorbed into. The narrator does a really good job at bringing the characters to life. The only downside I had with this book is some of the phrases. I mean who really talks to themselves using the terms 'sexy AF' or 'WTF' it just didn't sound or flow naturally to me. Other than that it was great.

Loved it

I've not read/listened to many YA books that I have enjoyed. There are not that many books I would revisit either. This book is so good that it will be added to my MUST read again short list. I was hesitant to use a credit on this series but in the end I used 2, as soon as I finished this one I got book 2.
