HSP ameliorator

I once had a student who would apologize profusely for each and every thing. I would always try to teach them that they need not apologize all the time. But it stands to reason that highly sensitive people may find this urge quite often, which is why I find it fantastic that Sara Martinez has address these kinds of behaviors, mindsets, and actions in her wonderful book ‘Thrive as a highly sensitive person’. Along with excellent insider’s knowledge of what it’s like to be a highly sensitive person (HSP), Martinez shares insights and ameliorative strategies that are sure to combat shyness, overwhelm, being misunderstood, and so much more, all with compassionate and a willingness to help those of us who fit into the HSP category, and, as I have discovered from reading this book, is a whooping 20% of us! Thank you Martinez

gather all the info you need on HSPs

The narration of this audiobook is excellent. The narrator's voice is enjoyable to listen to, and the pace seems perfect. I found myself completely immersed for hours. The cover is also extremely appealing-simple yet elegant. While listening to this audiobook, I felt the author talking directly to me. They were spot on as far as checking all the boxes for what makes someone a highly sensitive person. I was diagnosed with GAD some years ago, so for me, it was validating listening to some of the struggles HSPs go through. To know you're not alone in how you feel about yourself is vindicating. I love how the author took a deeper dive into mental health disorders that correlate to HSP. Autism is one of those spectrums where some HSPs may be autistic, but not all HSPs are. Overall, this audiobook is outstanding for anyone looking to improve their quality of life by not feeling as overwhelmed.

Beautiful

This was a very enlightening listen. I was brought up to be tough and told all-too-often to "toughen up" and that I was too sensitive, so this book was like taking a deep breath after being held under water for too long. I'm glad that books like this one are shedding light on what it means to be like this, the implications of being highly sensitive in a society that values the opposite. Sensitivity can be a strength, an important asset and quality, and this listen showed me how to return to self by making this aspect seen and valued. Beautiful book!

Great look at a group of misunderstood people!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. As an adult on the autism spectrum, I especially enjoyed and connected with the section comparing and sharing the similarities between people with autism and HSPs. There's a lot of great information in general, even if you are not a highly sensitive person.

I appreciated the actionable strategies for managing overwhelm and setting healthy boundaries. It's empowering to learn ways to protect your energy without feeling guilty about it.
This audiobook encouraged me to celebrate my sensitivity and use it to enhance my life. The advice on stopping the habit of over-apologizing was a game-changer, helping me stand more confidently in my truth.
