Slow to start but a good story

I enjoyed this story. I want to hear more. I would recommend this audiobook. I agree that it started slow but it had good character development.

There is nothing I hate more than having to wait for the release of the next book; when the story has been this riveting! Therefore, I really tried to ignore this book, in my library. My library has had over a thousand books, for years, so surely I could find a distraction; I could not😢!

So, I started the book, and as I feared, The story drew me in, I loved the characters and world building. Then, the final scene had my heart pounding and just as the story had me dangling on the edge….the audio ended.

Now, the wait has begun and JA’s writing has not been the typical patterned type romance that can be created and released in weeks. It will be months or more before the next book releases. I have no one but myself to blame.

So beware, this story will draw you in and having you pull an all nighter to consume every tantalizing moment, just to leave you bereft, at the end of the book.

There is just one single improvement that could have made it even better and that’s duet narration. My only consolation is that a book in another one of JA’s series will be released in another month. Therefore, I can relisten to the books that have already been released, from that series, and then devour that series’ new release!

She did it again!

This was a great start to a new series! It was just enough action and world building to rope you in. I love that there was not a ton of backstory talk in the beginning. We were able to just start with the story and attraction from the jump. Love it!🌶️🌶️🌶️

I cannot wait until the next one!

This is one of those books that I could completely binge on. I got pulled into this story just like I got pulled into Ash and blood. I don’t know where the author comes up with this stuff but it’s totally insane. Love the characters and the steamy scenes and the twist at the end drove me nuts. I really cannot wait till the next one.

I couldn't get enough!

I have loved every one of JLA's books and this one is no different. I'm so thankful she's fast to write and release her books, because I'm anxious for the next one!!

Absolutely Hooked!

This story hooked me almost from the very beginning. The characters have complex motivations and histories that make me root for the protagonists and at the same time wonder how they're going to proceed. The book does not proceed the way I expected in any way. Every turn is surprising and sometimes the decisions the characters make are unexpected. I can confidently say that I was kept on my toes the whole time. The world building is fascinating, and I'm left wondering how it will all become relevant later in the series. The main character is relatable and I'm looking forward to spending more time getting to know her and seeing her grow as the series progresses. My only complaint is that I have to WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK TO COME OUT AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Killing me

Why why why is that what we are left with???? JLA I love you’re books but you’re killing me.
This book had a lot of world building, which is great but it’s SO much. I was so back and forth and thrown every which way with this one. Had me thinking one thing just to be struck with another. I think my heart was in my chest 75% of the time anticipating what was coming.
This is yet another book you will read way too fast 🙃

Fallen angel? Nephalim? Definitely a spicy twist on supernatural romance. Looking forward to book 2.

The build is there

Story builds with time, but it does go a little slow initially. After the fact I thought about it - and there really was a lot of storybuilding necessary to move forward and that contributed to the initial pace. Overall- great suspense, story and characters. Ms Nankani’s narration was spot on - and varied for each character 😊

Loved it!

The wait will be agonizing. An excellent new storyline. Well done and keep them coming.
