Story

Story
Cameroon is the only country in Africa where those who campaigned, fought and died for the country's freedom and independence from colonial rule have never made it to power, where the ideas and ideals of these union-nationalists are still being suppressed by the unpopular system the colonial master put in place in the country after defeating these civic-nationalists in a bloody war variously described as France’s genocidal war in Africa. This retarding French-imposed system keeps the country trapped in poverty, corruption, underdevelopment, dictatorship, despondence, and cynicism, thereby...

Jeremiah is a sage with a job that many people envy, even though hardly anyone understands the true nature of the burden the occupation heaps on his soul. As the emissary of ancestors and divines, he thinks he is doing okay until he shepherds the clueless Joseph on a journey that brings him face-to-face with the horrors of his ways. Joseph needs a lifeline. His earlier life as the inheritor of a legacy that involved wealth, power and goodness has been tainted by his embrace of evil, which leaves death and grief in its path. He knows what he is about to face and thinks that Jeremiah, a man ...

Story
This thoughtful account of Patrice Lumumba provides an insight into why the swift elimination of the legend from the geopolitical developments involving his country plunged Congo into turmoil that it is yet to recover from. Janvier T. Chando highlights Congo's deep trauma as the private possession of King Leopold of Belgium, later as a Belgian colony, and afterward, as a so-called independent state that got disarrayed by a tug-of-war between the cold war rivals. That resulted in the inhuman dictatorship of pro-Western Mobutu Sese Seko, in wars during which millions of Congolese died, in the...

Story
No US. Presidential election has been as dramatic as the 2016 race for the White House. Mavericks rose to prominence from the primaries in both the Republican and Democratic camps, challenged the status quo, exposed the follies of the country's political establishment and vowed to bring a new dawn to America. These unorthodox candidates did so without seeking financial assistance from the groups that traditionally financed political candidates in the past elections. The Republican maverick Donald Trump won the nomination of the party he recently joined, against a long list of seventeen ...

Story
A family is on the brink of collapse as the members deal with issues of the heart that reveal disloyalty, betrayal, grief, and insecurity. However, one area that does not buckle the trend is where men trained to save lives and work for humanity, exhibit strengths, and weaknesses that confirm the long-held view that interests supersede ideals, that love of life exposes the trait of treachery that resides even in some people with noble ideas. "The Doctors" is sequentially after "The Sweetest Madness" in the short story collection entitled "Me Before Them".

Story
As a German colony from 1884-1916, Kamerun was called "The African Pearl" for its human and material potential, and for its strategic position in Africa. The defeat of Germany in the First World War and the partition of the colony into British Cameroons and French Cameroon did not diminish the area's outsize role in the political and economic evolution of the continent. So, the quest by the land's civic nationalists to reunite the British-controlled and French-controlled territories and make Cameroon independent, raised concerns among the colonialists in Britain and France, who planned to ...

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn’t need any more kinks. She likes the one she’s landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.
