This short but helpful book is a must for all Christians who want to walk in a manner worthy of Jesus Christ, pleasing him in all things. Pink aptly uses Proverbs 4:23 to show that keeping or guarding the heart is key to walking in that worthy manner. For from the heart are all “the issues of life.” As goes the heart, so goes the life. Whether you are a young or old Christian, or whether you live in prosperity or in adversity, this is a superb guide to practical Christian thinking and living.

Arthur W. Pink gets right to the point in this brief but beneficial book. To pray correctly, Christians need clarity, and this book delivers. Pink said it well: “We need something better than that which is of mere human origin to guide us if we are to perform aright this essential duty.” This book assists the modern disciple to better understand the Lord’s Prayer taught to those first disciples long ago.

While most of us barely begin to even consider the “why” questions, Arthur W. Pink plainly declared the unpopular truth about the root cause of all human maladies. In his incisive way, Pink explained that the reason for the human condition is a spiritual one. Pink shows that the Moral Law is still binding on all men today, that humanity will be judged for its violation, and that it is the rule of life and means of sanctification for the Christian. The New Birth examines the Biblical teaching of regeneration, or being born from above. Because of man’s fallen condition and depravity, God must do a work in a person before he can come to know and love God. This work is known as “the new birth.”

This sermon is taken from Romans 3:19, “That every mouth may be stopped.” Edwards carefully and methodically showed that God is perfectly just to punish sinners. He began with God’s infinite majesty, then showed man’s infinite guilt, made many applications, answered objections, and ended with words of encouragement to both the guilty sinner and the forgiven saint.

A wonderfully helpful book. Christians need divine comfort, and Arthur W. Pink reminds us of the incredibly glorious comfort that belongs to every Christian. From our never being condemned for our sins, through all the various afflictions, chastisements, sufferings, and trials of life, all the way to the death of each saint, the comfort God provides his own can be richly exercised in the hearts and lives of every Christian.

This classic by Horatius Bonar is essential to any true minister of the gospel or serious Christian teacher. It greatly helps clarify the central purpose of the gospel minister in calling men to Christ. It also aids in identifying the numerous problems that can creep into the life of a minister through carelessness and indifference. As Bonar explores many of the problems of his day, we find that we still struggle with the same problems in our day.

Edwards opened the sermon by defining “pressing into” the kingdom, explaining why every one should earnestly seek it. He reminded the hearers that, by nature, all are in a perishing necessity of salvation, utterly lost when outside the kingdom.
