• How To Get Hired As A Creator with Jordyn
    Feb 1 2023

HOW DO YOU FIND THE RIGHT PERSON?

Do you immediately pick the one with the big names on paper? Or do you seek someone who can really lay down the cards, and shows he can cope with the times?

In this episode, Chris talks to Jordyn (Peterson) Curley, Owner & Producer at Elephant Season Productions, shares her insights on how to properly pick the right artist for her team. Jordyn also talks about the things you should do when an opportunity comes. Learn more in this latest episode of Content-Led Growth.

    GEARS FOR GROWTH

    JORDYN: START WITH THE PORTFOLIO

"The first thing you do is look at the portfolio, right? Like, that is with the only connection that you initially have to someone looking for a job is looking at their website, at their portfolio? And that is very simple. Does it look like something that a bot made? Or does it look personal”

JORDYN: STEP UP AND RAISE YOUR HAND

"This is the number one thing that I tell people. It sounds ridiculous. Raise your hand. If there is something that needs to be done, step up. If you don't know how to do it, learn how to do it, the more that you can show yourself as being capable. And as being the one willing to do the tasks that no one else wants to do, the more opportunities you'll have for advancement.”

HELEN: Love your team, it’s important.

"I think it's super important that managers really focus on their team members, understand them as whole human beings with lives and ambitions, while simultaneously figuring out how they can support them, reduce friction in the sales process, maybe using their positional power in the organization to get resources or to connect with customer executives.”

RENE: Retaining people is the core of success

"With COVID, employees were leaving in droves, you know, 44 million people a month were quitting. So retaining talent is core to the manager's ability to be successful.”

  • AT THE TIP OF THE PEN: Rene Zamora’s Content-Led Career With The Power Of Writing
    Dec 1 2022

TELL YOUR CUSTOMER WHAT YOU WILL DO, THEN DO IT

These are important words from Rene Zamora, President, Author, and Fractional Sales Management Consultant of Sales Manager Now. Rene tells a story about his experience in blogging for many years and shares his insights about creating commitments and establishing trust with your customer. Find out more about Rene in this latest episode of Content-Led Growth.

    GEARS FOR GROWTH

RENE: The importance of creating commitments and trust

"I coach my salespeople to actually look for opportunities, make promises you can keep because we're all trying to build trust. If we get trust with customers we get honesty, we get transparency, we can really understand the problem, we can disqualify that customer as well as we can qualify that customer, we can build better solutions with trust.”

CHRIS: Establishing trust with a customer now, and even after

"I think an important point that Renee is uncovering here is establishing that trust with the customer, even after they're a customer, not even a potential customer. Someone that is already working with your company, looking for more opportunities to tell them what you're going to do and then do it make a promise and show them or over deliver a little bit on that. And I think that was a really important reminder for pretty much anyone.”

    GEARS FOR GROWTH

JOHN: How a collection of notes gave birth to his book

"I had had a file. So I had notes going back to 1995. I mean, that's how long I've been putting little notes and ideas and clips and stuff into this file folder. So I had something to start with, and so I just started putting those in little piles, like, this might be a chapter, this might be a chapter, and then eventually, settled on nine chapters on the kind of nine ideas and put those in order.”

JOHN: The best way of figuring out your career path

"You can really read my book and spend some time talk to a lot of mentors, do some shadowing and figure out, I want to live in this part of the country, I want to work for this kind of company. In fact, there are only 10 companies that I really liked to work for doing this kind of job. And I'm going to try to find a way to go get that job. I mean, that's the best way to do it, and to be patient about getting in there.”

  • Stay Consistent in Your Content Creation with Debbie Reynolds
    Nov 16 2022

If something is worth doing, then it’s worth doing it correctly and most of all, consistently. In this episode of the Content-Led Growth podcast, your host Chris Decker is joined by the Data Diva herself, Debbie Reynolds. Debbie, who hosts The Data Diva Talks Privacy Podcast, discusses how consistency in content creation skyrocketed her consulting business. Debbie also talks about the biggest challenge that companies face today with data privacy, and how ignoring it can spell trouble for your business.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • How content creation turbocharged Debbie's business
    • A look back at the early days of Debbie's content creation journey
    • How Debbie keeps up with the recent trends in podcasting
    • The biggest challenge with data privacy today
    • Policies should be operational, not aspirational
    • Advice for new content creators: be consistent

    QUOTES

How podcasting changed the way Debbie acquired customers: "A lot of the time when you think about the traditional ways of marketing, you're like okay, let me try to find someone within the organization and crawl myself up that ladder to a decision-maker. [Now], I have the decision-makers reaching out to me and saying 'Hey, we love your stuff, we want to work with you.' And they just sort of make it happen."

The biggest challenge that companies face with data privacy today, says Debbie: "If a company doesn't do anything, they say, 'Oh, forget data privacy. It doesn't bother me or whatever.' What they're starting to see is the data that they used to get free-flowing, is gonna start to dry up. Maybe some of the customers they were working with may not work with them anymore because they're putting more stipulations within contracts."

Debbie on staying consistent with your content creation: "I think people don't understand how important consistency is. So when I say that it makes it sound tiring. It sounds exhausting... When I say consistency, I mean figure out the pace you want to go and stay in that rhythm."

  • Core Values With Arthur Aaron Magdangal
    Nov 10 2022

In this very special episode of the Content-Led Growth podcast, Chris Decker is joined in the studio by Salescast’s very own Director of Podcast Success, Arthur Aaron Magdangal. Arthur was one of the first Salescast’s first employees, and got to see how the company grew to its current size and iteration. As one of its pioneers, Arthur talks about the core values that have developed organically in the company during the past few years, particularly those that resonate with his own.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Treat others the way you would want to be treated
    • How to build trust in an organization
    • Be intentional with the impact you make
    • Hiring and firing decisions need to be grounded on values
    • Arthur's takeaways from his US trip

    QUOTES

Why it's important to be intentional about one's actions and impact, says Arthur: "If you do things in a very transparent way, there's gonna be impact. If you do things in a bad way, there's gonna be a negative impact. As long as you do positive things, you're certainly gonna have a positive impact. If it's not gonna be right away, it's sooner."

Why establishing a solid foundation of values is crucial for growing companies, according to Chris: "It's time to really decide what are the things we're gonna hire and fire by. Because as we scale we actually need to reduce the amount of complexity as much as possible, we need to make things simpler. If we build this roadmap together, future decisions will be easy."
