JOHN: How a collection of notes gave birth to his book

"I had had a file. So I had notes going back to 1995. I mean, that's how long I've been putting little notes and ideas and clips and stuff into this file folder. So I had something to start with, and so I just started putting those in little piles, like, this might be a chapter, this might be a chapter, and then eventually, settled on nine chapters on the kind of nine ideas and put those in order.”

JOHN: The best way of figuring out your career path

"You can really read my book and spend some time talk to a lot of mentors, do some shadowing and figure out, I want to live in this part of the country, I want to work for this kind of company. In fact, there are only 10 companies that I really liked to work for doing this kind of job. And I'm going to try to find a way to go get that job. I mean, that's the best way to do it, and to be patient about getting in there.”
