Nuanced, practical, gentle, and respectful of a complex and often traumatic human experience: grief

I loved the writers’ approach to the complex human experience that is grief. Their offerings guide the reader without demanding we follow “how-tos” in order to “fix” our wounds. They are validating of all kinds of grief and inviting of readers to reclaim our own agency, which we might have gotten disconnected to due to misinformation about grief, by the shear suffering of grief, and/or attachment issues from past traumas.

The narrator’s voice serves the book’s content in an excellent manner. Their voice is gentle and clear without sounding dull or condescending. It is almost always difficult for me to maintain focus while reading (due to ADHD), but even listening to audiobooks is difficult if a narrator is not dynamic enough with their voice or if they are too dynamic. The voice of the writers and the voice of the narrator worked so well for me. I found myself looking forward to come back to this audiobook and continue to make progress towards regulating my nervous system through all the sources of grief I must carry, big and small. I highly recommend this. Thank you to all who made this book possible.

Relatable

one of the things I struggle with the most in grief is a sense of loneliness and isolation -- that "what's wrong with me?!?" feeling.

This audiobook felt like a friend. It is practical, validating, non-judgemental, and comforting. It helps me realize that I am not alone. It helps me navigate the fog of grief. I love this book and have shared it with close friends whom I thought might also find it helpful.
