About this listen

The adventures of Morgan Mackenzie and her sidekick Lulu the Loofah continue!

The [Skyclad Sorceress] has made new friends and discovered she has some enemies. Now, along with the Worldwalker Dana and the survivors of the Expedition, she is working to get out of the Wildlands.

Meanwhile, the Deskren have beseiged Fort Expedition and The General rides with his troops to their relief. He is followed by The Hammer, leading the Children of the First Beast. Certainly an impressive and dangerous force, but will they get to Expedition in time to save the city? If they arrive in time, can they hold the walls until the Tribes arrive?

As the northern continent slips deeper into autumn and winter, the Empire in the south prepares for spring and the planting of crops. Their raiding campaign into the north has not gone well, and tensions are rising as food shortages loom. All is not as it seems in Nouveau Deskra.

Wandering Inn like vibes

You will be disappointed if you enjoy narratives focused solely on one main protagonist. For that reason, this book reminds me of the Wandering Inn, with several remarkable characters from Earth. The novel likes to focus on each character from Earth and the various people who are impacted by them. This leaves little room for the Skyclad Sorceress, but it is still a fantastic novel if you enjoy a multiple-character-driven experience.

If you enjoy a story with a wide array of characters, pick this one up. I personally would have liked a little more focus on the Sorceress, but I still enjoyed it.

More Please

This was a good follow-up to a great first book. There was a lot less of Morgan in this one as we only mainly see her in the beginning and ending quarters of the book in spurts with the bulk of the book dealing with the siege of a city.
While I liked this book a lot and can't wait for the next one, I still had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand it was nice to have an expansion of the world and to have some more time with other great characters like Dana, but I'm personally not really into wars, battles, etc. so the main plot of this book didn't do much for me. I also missed Morgan and was hoping she would have been more prevalent in this one, or that the book was longer in general.
That brings me to the last point. Judging by the plot and the pacing, this doesn't seem like it is going to just be a simple trilogy but rather one of those series that tries to go on and on and on like the Wandering Inn, which is fine, but normally those types of books tend to be much longer or cover a certain story ark, where as this book was just "stuff that happens" for about ten hours. Don't get me wrong, it was still fairly interesting stuff and the characters were great, but I guess I was expecting maybe a bit more direction. There were some points in the story where the characters seemed to know why they wanted to go places but really didn't clue us in on it.
All in all, though, this was a fun sequel to the first book and I wish I had a time machine to leap forward and read more without having to wait. Please keep the books coming!
P.S. The narrator was great but she just needs to be told how to say "trebuchet."

Well Enough

There was a lot going on in this book, most of it being about characters other than Morgan. Tons of story points that are sped through instead of fleshed out so you are taking in a lot of info for several characters you might not even care about. The story overall is entertaining, with a few disappointing "I'll commit war crimes for loved ones" commentary. Overall, entertaining but could have been better

Bit too chaotic.

Multiple POVs are fine and all, but this book adds even more character perspectives. The swaps happen very frequently and across the whole world setting or within the same setting from a different perspective. Makes it hard to follow at times and difficult to really attach to any one character.

This book also did greatly reduct the "main characters" page time.

Only complaint is that it ended too soon

Quite enjoyable, had initially returned the first book, but I got over the whole naked aspect.
