About this listen
Do you struggle to set boundaries with others in your life? Has your past conditioned you to expect pushback when setting boundaries, or caused you to give up on trying to set boundaries altogether? The prospect of setting boundaries can be scary and intimidating and can put you in a very vulnerable place where your mental health and wellbeing may even be at risk. There is a science to creating boundaries—one that will empower you, deepen your connection with others, and improve your self-esteem.
Setting Boundaries That Stick offers a scientific, neurobiological approach to boundary work. This unique guide will teach you to set healthy boundaries from the inside out by cultivating an "integrated brain," which allows you to respond to others with intention, rather than simply reacting based on instinct. Also included are exercises and activities to help you understand and create both physical and psychological boundaries, thereby building a solid, holistic framework for a more authentic sense of connection with others.
It's time to set boundaries in a way that empowers you to protect yourself, while also improving your relationships. By working from the inside out, this book will help you set healthy boundaries that actually stick.

Beyond the initial transition to nonmonogamy, many struggle with the root issues beneath the symptoms of broken agreements, communication challenges, increased fighting and persistent jealousy.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Images and sounds of war, natural disasters, and human-made devastation explicitly surround us and implicitly leave their imprint in our muscles, our belly and heart, our nervous systems, and the brains in our skulls. We each experience more digital data than we are capable of processing in a day, and this is leading to a loss of empathy and human contact. This loss of leisurely, sustained, face-to-face connection is making true presence a rare experience for many of us, and is neurally ingraining fast pace and split attention as the norm.

Needs PDF, narration whiny
I LOVE this Author, and have even done some of her training, with Dr Terry Real, to prepare me for work with couples in therapy. I TRULY wish she would have narrated this herself, she has such a soothing voice & tone & cadence.
This Narrator sounded Grand-motherly, and made the voices of the clients sound whiny and weak... exactly the wrong thing I think, for setting boundaries.
As well, especially given the nature of the 6 steps process in the book, I truly wish there was a PDF (in fact assumed there was, and have been surprised today to log into audible & see there is not) I'm now going to have a re-listen from the start to make notes. Everyone knows audiobooks are often listened to on-the-go, so especially with such activity based content, a PDF would make this much more worthwhile. I think lack of one is a serious oversight on the part of the audiobook Production.
It is excellent in it's aim, and I really am so pleased TJS has made this book on boundaries...it's my new favourite book on the much discussed subject.

Fantastic information, easy to follow steps
The information is great and I am using it with clients to help them learn to create and hold healthy boundaries. I also love her info on how our brains work. Overall I love Dr. Shores work. I wish there had been a PDF to go with the audio book with the exercises. I did not like the narration for this book. To me she sounded whiny in the vignettes and annoying throughout; I found her voice distracting from the great information.. I would 1000% recommend a hard copy of this book and to follow these steps in life.
