About this listen

Gretch Wolgast still can’t forgive Shaq for abandoning her beloved Orlando Magic, but she is moving on with her life. Two years after she helped foil a plot to destroy her and her fellow OP - the telekinetics born in Orlando in the early 1980s - she's become a federal agent investigating OP-related crime. But her boss really doesn’t seem to like her. And now she’s being forced to attend a dinner on a mysterious billionaire's yacht in South Florida.

Gretch barely has time to dive into the appetizers before things get weird. And deadly.

Reunited with her old friend Special Agent Frank Prater, Gretch needs to find a killer and save the lives of everyone on board. Not so easy when each passenger is a suspect - and each is harboring a secret.

2nd listen just as good!

I just finished my second listen of this book and the second time around was just as great as the first. Gretch is that hilarious, candid underdog that we all root for! highly recommended, laughing out loud, whodunnit murder mystery!

Perfect sequel, hopeful for more

Myself being born in the early 80s growing up near Orlando, I have found this series a refreshing take on my home state and its inhabitants. Thank you for not perpetuating the Florida Man trope! There are definitely a few references that may fly over the heads (by telekinesis, perhaps?) of non-Floridians. Burrito Bros?!?

The story is paced well with a good mix of humor and suspense. I found the character development (especially Gretch) to be authentic and not forced. Narration was on point.

I cannot wait until the next book!

Quite hilarious

The story is quite funny, and the narrator was perfect for this story. She did an awesome job becoming the character. The author did a great job writing humor into this story. To me, it is an easier listen if you can listen for longer periods of time and would be great on a long trip.

Better and better

Been a while since I listened to the first one but I think this one is better. Nice twisty plot. Nothing new at the end but a unique way to get there. Like Gretchen more and more. Looking forward to more. Books are better than the description.

What?!

Such a good sequel to the first book. But HOLY CLIFFHANGER. WHY. Can only hope Kane and Sieh get the next book out ASAP.

As fun as the first.

Inventive universe that is executed consistently within its own established rules. Protagonist is equally positive and problematic in a rich, realized way that makes her leap off the page. Great integration of 90’s pop culture. Performer is clearly having a blast and handles the necessary singing (yes, singing) with aplomb. With where this left off, there had better be a next book!

They Just Keep Getting Better

Love this series! This is book two in this series (advise to read the first book before this one for s better appreciation and experience) and Gretchen continues to get involved in another murder mystery. I enjoy listening to her writing and enjoy her style (with the added touches of humor) and the narrator makes everything come alive. Both together are a perfect pair. (Don’t ever change to another narrator in future books please). Storyline is so good you don’t want to put it down. Can’t wait for the next and hope there are several more in this series.

Wow! Just hold on till they get on the boat!

Then the story really gets moving! My only concern is the "Bigot Girl" (I suddenly can't remember her name) is way over the top, but I have never known someone like that so, maybe.

Listened straight through

This book came up as a suggestion from audible. I’d never heard of the author but it said witty and funny and that’s what I was in the mood for. I literally listened to the book straight through throughout the day while doing my Saturday chores and chilling. Alexander’s wit is great. It is lighthearted and partially silly but maintains a good storyline with likable characters that I can see continuing on into more books.
I listened out of order so I just ordered Orlando People to start next. Can’t wait for more! Great narrator too!
