About this listen

Which would you choose if given the chance? Peace…or freedom?

As Human civilization approaches interstellar and even interdimensional travel, a lone being, Sol, arrives on our planet. Hailing from an advanced society dedicated to ushering our world into a future of peace.

After stepping through the one-way portal, Sol discovers an unexpected side effect that this universe has on his body—power befitting those we mere humans call superheroes.

But, as is the law of unintended consequences, there is a cost to having tremendous abilities that Sol must learn to deal with in his quest for peace. Even worse, an old friend from the past follows Sol to our dimension with a unique powerset of his own.

Where Sol seeks peace, Tenebris offers our world freedom from those in power who only wish to serve themselves. He will stop at nothing to prove he has the strength to crumple the corrupt systems of man and set all people free.

The Boys meets Logan in this thrilling new Superhero series from Hunter Blain, best-selling author of the Preternatural Chronicles. Follow Sol as he learns his incredible and deadly powers, hurdles a maze of bureaucratic marionette strings, and comes face to face with a ghost of his past.

What would we do if we could live it peace and would the government allow it? This story has a little of all of your super hero’s in it. This is a what if story.

This was an awesome first book for a series. Sol is a complicated character. He has these amazing powers but they are hard to control and can even hurt those he tries to save. Despite that, he’s still out there doing his best.

The narration was excellent. The story was fantastic. There’s even a twist that completely caught me off guard.

Highly recommended!

Excellent book!

this book is a bit gritty, with some great comic relief in there. it tackles a lot of stuff in the real world but keeps it grounded in storytelling and a watchman like feel for super heroes.

good guy or bad guy, they all make you think deeply. and we learn there are always consequences to every action.

A gritty new heroes tale with good comic relief.

I don't know about you, but I make star reviews to remind myself which authors and narrators I do and don't like. I don't like being required to leave a text review in order to leave a star review. I hope Audible fixes this soon.

Average, YA

Really enjoyed this listen. The characters and conversations were engaging, and I found myself laughing often. The author put this together well, and I will definitely listen to the next book in the series.

Unique; well done

This story had an interesting storyline with a great set of characters. Sol, an alien who was exiled from his planet, ends up here on earth, but possesses superhero traits. His mission is to protect the earth, but is it really? Many people question his being here on earth.
The author has a real talent for great metaphors (i.e. “like flames on a lightning bolt”, when describing pain). This really was a unique story about an alien super hero and his interaction here on earth.
The action scenes were well described and there was a bit of dry humor throughout the story. The narrator does a top notch job delivering the story. I really couldn’t find any flaws in his performance.
In short, if you’re a fan of superheroes or comic book type characters, this one’s for you. Give it a listen and enjoy! I look forward to hearing more about Sol and his mission here on Earth!

I was given a free copy of this audiobook, and this is my own unbiased opinion after listening to it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Solid story for Superhero Fans

Something new from Hunter and I'm loving it. Sol is the perfect hero. He has flaws and more human than most humans. The storyline really makes you think because it hits home. The characters are very good and totally relatable. I love Harry and his sassy whit. can't wait for the next installment

I loved this book. Extremely enjoyable and entertaining. My 3 favorite things:
1. Phil Thorn did an amazing job with Blain’s characters and cadence.
2. Harry, to me, was a perfect mix of Detective Lieutenant John McClane and Argyle, from that Christmas movie nobody remembers. Barefoot, bloody, and brave, with impeccable comic relief, Harry was my favorite character. I was most inspired by the hero’s choice of his handler, stoked Harry didn’t die, and felt a better understanding for Sol’s personality with this organic friendship.
3. I love a good villain…and Tenebris is great. I really enjoy when, near the end, you truly wonder if you are rooting for the wrong guy and, no regrets, I look forward to his powerful manipulation over me in the coming books.
4. This book opened my eyes, or ears actually, to Hunter Blain’s Preternatural Chronicles of John Cook. I wanted to review Dawn’s Light yesterday as soon as I finished it but I could not put I’m Glad You’re Dead down.
Officially a super fan, long live Tyger!-Katy Lamers

This was a fun take on super heroes. Sol is your typical Superman like character with all the powers and one mysterious weakness. I really enjoyed the way that this book explored the human side of being a super hero. How difficult it can be sometimes for someone with super strength for example to adjust living among people that don't. Mundane things such as opening doors, shaking hands, can end up with people hurt.

The book can be a bit graphic at times in it's violence so be aware of that. Overall enjoyable foray into the super hero genre.

Dawn's Light great read for Superman fans!
