About this listen
Steel Foundations asks the question: What if a 16th-century German knight was thrust into a world of magic, gods, and monsters, forced to navigate the unknown while mourning the loss of everything he once knew?
Leon Jäger, a stoic and unyielding knight, lives by a simple code: repay kindness with a river of ambrosia, and slights with total destruction. When an unexplainable force pulls him into a foreign world where magic flows and monsters roam, his creed will be tested like never before.
Struggling to comprehend powers beyond his imagination, Leon must master the mystical art of Qi cultivation while hiding his abilities from those who might exploit them. As he maneuvers through this strange land of gods, magic, and Cultivation, Leon must not only survive but carve out his place—without losing himself in the process.
Steel Foundations blends the epic drama of Western fantasy with the intricate philosophy of Chinese cultivation, wrapped in the fast-paced thrills of LitRPG. Swords, sorcery, and mystical forces converge in this unique isekai adventure, where Eastern tradition meets a knight's resolve.

Story
I used to be the greatest Earth Mage in my world. The head of the entire Order of Architects. But the older you get, the more you come to realize that at some point, you need to retire, so that you can have the chance to enjoy a peaceful life and to cede your place to the young, some of whom have already turned two thousand years old . . .So that's what I did. But I failed to account for one thing: during the course of my long life, I'd accumulated too many enemies, and they had decided to spoil my retirement. So they died along with me. And I hope their deaths were final. But mine was not!

In a former life, Jack was gifted, meaning he possessed peculiar abilities. If rich folks found themselves in a jam, Jack could use his talents to get them out of it. Where others were sure to fail, Jack's aristocratic clientele could always count on him to finish jobs cleanly, efficiently, and leave no trace, for which his services commanded a hefty fee. I was a Hunter, and I honored the Code. For my services to humanity and for leading a "proper" life, I was to be rewarded. A new life after death, and a new world to give me some well-deserved rest. But something went wrong. Once again, I must fight. The Monsters that face me here are far more terrifying than those of my past life. They are cleverer, crueler, more unpredictable. And their name is.

Laric Mason has long evaded the grand expectations set before him by his grandmother. Engaged in the rudimentary spellslips and basics of mage magic at his local school, he intentionally conceals his true abilities. Public recognition would only bring unwanted responsibility and the threat of a transfer to the prestigious Mage Academy. When a devastating dragon assault from the neighboring realm of Korthal lays waste to his village, Laric's world is turned upside down. With his home in ruins and his loved ones lost, he and his friends are all that stand against further invasions.

Bernt finds himself working in the city sewers as an Underkeeper among the other rejects of Halfbridge's magery. Liu Peijin has spent the last decade of her life writing a widely read—and very trashy—LitRPG web novel. Too bad her readers don't really like the book . . . or the author. But who can blame them? Peijin is bitter and far more interested in challenging negative reviews and blocking all critics than engaging with fans. Until one day, after arguing with a commenter, she receives an ominous message: "Tomorrow, 1 p.m. I have a surprise for you." Sure enough, the next day the Azure Dragon of Peijin's story appears on the freeway before her and slaughters dozens of humans in a flash.

Driven by a desire to honor Gramps and a sense of adventure, Syl chose the latter... only to awaken as a lowly slime. A farmed slime. The life of a farmed slime was cruel. Syl was constantly at the mercy of humans, a slime whose only purpose was to eat and recycle garbage. The threat of lethal core-destroying knives wielded by innocent children was a constant shadow. This was not the life Syl had envisioned. So, they made a daring escape to the wilderness!

It’s just….Amazing
I was blown away by this book I wish the book had 20 more hours for me to listen too. Great narration, amazing concept, well liked characters, and lots of possibilities to come. I’m already counting the days for the next book.

Very Good!
Besides the narrator doing a phenomenal job, the story itself was wonderful. There was a perfect balance of telling and showing (in my opinion) for a litRPG, and the plot was interesting and caught my attention from beginning to end. The characters were well-written, often relatable, and the mix of comedy and action was just chef's kiss. I look forward to the next one!

pretty good
Only problem is the millennial, writing that constantly distracts and takes you out of the story.

This is adorable!
I read a lot of litRPG and progression fantasy/cultivation books and this was just so wholesome. You know who a bad guy and who’s a good guy, plus the main character is an absolute cinnamon roll.
It’s not a deep book, and the writing style is simple (in a good way) It’s a good palate cleanser if you want something that you don’t have to think too hard about, and gives you good vibes.

A VERY GOOD STORY JUST ONE ISSUE
he never seems to question the meddling of the gods and just goes along with what ever that one goddess manipulates him into, I take issue and it makes me feel some kinda way. aside from that I loved the mc, and will be continuing the series in the books that are now available. if you are on the fence its a good listen, I was and I don't regret getting it.

AMAZING!!!
This genre is definitely not my go to. That being said, I was hooked after chapter 2. I can't stop listening to this. I typically only listen to books or podcasts on my way to/from work, but this one has been played at home as well! I hope the follow on books make it to audible soon!

great narration decent idea just ok story
I wanted to like this book but its not for me it reads like an anime where the mc gets op abilities and gets items or skills whenever its needed and doesn't really have to learn his skill they are just given to him. If i was in my teens id have loved this book but now i cant stand these kind of books but that's just my grumpy self talking if you love anime you'll probably like this book
