About this listen

In picturesque Moonlight Cove, California, inexplicable deaths occur, and spine-tingling terror descends to this "edge of paradise". Growing numbers of residents harbor a secret so dark it is sure to cost even more lives.

Tessa Lockland comes to town to probe her sister's seemingly unprompted suicide. Independent and clever, she meets up with Sam Booker, an undercover FBI agent sent to Moonlight Cove to discover the truth behind the mysterious deaths.

They meet Harry Talbot, a wheelchair-bound veteran, who has seen things from his window that he was not meant to see. Together they begin to understand the depth of evil in Moonlight Cove. Chrissie Foster, a resourceful 11-year-old, running from parents who have suddenly changed and in whom darkness dwells, joins them. Together they make a stand against darkness and terror.

this is a great story with some of the best from Koontz. the narrator (although tolerable) however did not do it justice.

another great from Koontz

SPOILER ALERT!!! I am used to way better from Dean Koontz, this one felt like it was dragged out longer than it needed to be then it ended very suddenly. SPOILER ALERT!!! The creature that gets quite a bit of attention throughout the book is wriggling out of its lair to consume a whole bunch of people, then BOOM it died.... The end.. It just was kind of jarring. I also expected a bigger fight out of the main villain. it was a lot of build up and a whole lot of let down. Usually Koontz is far better than this.

Good but not great

I loved this book. It was an easy read and kept me entertained. Dean Koontz is my favorite author.

Great

Dean Koontz has a way with the fantastic. This sci-fi mystery takes a turn to the unbelievable but strangely possible.
I enjoyed the story and performance, and the overall theme of hope and humanity.

Weird and Wonderful

The only thing that made me not like this is J. Charles and his poor performance. It was like listening to an infomercial. So annoying. Made me wish I’d gotten a different book.

#disappointing

enjoyed the whole thing and appreciate the mystery and the bravery. . gotta have a good dog. love matters and needing n wanting is not the same as loving and appreciating .. nhailism- I cannot spell.. but gotta fight the meaningless ness and remember to love each other. love to revisit his story telling all these years later as an adult... remembering my childhood and myself in the process of visiting these worlds. feels good to reconnect to my earlier joy of reading.. 30 years ago I read dean Koontz to escape... now, it's very comforting despite the scary stories he tells. love and heart prevail..

love the ending

I didn't enjoy this at all. The reader read too fast. The story was transparent and dull. I thought it lacked the Koonz magic

Disappointed
