Tons of Twists and Turns

STORY - (Suspense) Like the Publisher's Summary says, there's lightning and a stranger. Is he a guardian angel, the devil in disguise or a master of time and space?

I don't know how I can write anything about this story without giving something away, so I will just comment that it is unusual and very good. I was expecting it to possibly be scary, but it isn't. There's sadness and violence, but there's also humor and love. This is my first Koontz novel, but it's not going to be my last.

PERFORMANCE - Good job with multiple voices and accents.

OVERALL - (Actual rating 4.5) Highly recommended for both guys and gals. Probably too much violence for young teenagers. Must be in the mood for some mystery with lots of action and suspense.

Pretty Good Koontz

I liked the characters and stages of the story. A reasonable story with enjoyable twists and changes. Not the best of Koontz, but good classic Koontz. As usual, the premise is hard to swallow, but once swallowed is pretty good.

Solid Koontz entry

I first fell in love with Dean Koontz via 'Odd Thomas'. Odd's story remains one of my favorites as have some of his other titles (The Watcher is a must read). Lightening Road is a very satisfying read. The thing about Koontzs' work that I love is his ability to transport me immediately to the scene and keep me on the edge of my seat. I felt the same way about Lightening Road. Loved the characters, their struggle and undying hope. It is well worth your time.

Loved It!

This was my first reading of Dean Koontz, and won't be my last. So glad it was on sale, so I could give this author a try.,
The story is quite mysterious from the start, and keeps you guessing all the way through the book. Found myself laughing and crying in this book, and that's what makes a novel a 5 star for me. I love to get wrapped up with the characters lives, letting my emotions go. It's very well written and the narration was excellent.

Good story

Very inventive, solid story about the life of one special girl and a man who is fighting his own internal battle between good and evil. The story moves along pretty fast with just a few places that lagged but there are good characters that make up for it.

I am reading another Koontz book and I can't help thinking that if I had read this one I would have enjoyed it more. The narrator does good voices but his regular narration is very monotone. To each his own.

This was my first experience of Dean Koontz and I was not disappointed. I found the story thrilling and I really wanted to know how it ended. Kudos to Christopher Lane for the excellent narration.

Fantastic!

Lightning by Dean Koontz is a fantastic story about how true, pure and unconditional love can make a man change himself, the future of many and the past of all.

Renowned narrator Christopher Lane delivers a superb performance, using a large range of voices and accents in order to bring all of these characters to life. From the small girl listening to her father's invented stories, to the ruthless German assassin and to a historical figure, his narration is top notch.

This was my first experience with a novel written by Dean Koontz and I was completely pulled into the world he created with such talent and prowess. Instantly immersive, highly entertaining and beautifully written, Lightning
will stay with me for a long, long time.

If you are into time travel adventures, this one will blow you away!

Mixed feelings

At first, I thought I would enjoy this book a whole lot more than I did. I was ready to put it down after a half hour but thought, dammit I paid for this and I will listen. Fortunately, it picked up and it held my interest up until the hero revealed where he came from. I found myself hating the friend of the women being pursued. And the more her character was developed, the less I wanted to hear about her. I labored somewhat to finish the book, but thought that overall it was worth listening to.

This book was electrical!

It was no shocker that I loved this book. I haven’t read a book by Dean Koontz yet that wasn’t a keeper. This was still one of my favs. Want suspense and action? Check. Great narration? Check. One you can’t turn off your earbuds to sleep at night? Check. So bolt to your Audible app and get it! Your day will go by in a flash! (Ok... I’m sorry for all the lightning puns...lol). #Audible20 Review Sweepstakes
