NOT for kids listening time!!!

Second Koontz audio book. Enjoyed both driving a long distance. Found imagery and themes in this book very “R” or NC-17 and regretted purchasing realizing the intensity of the horror aspects of the book. Maybe I missed the rating somewhere but hopefully my review will save others from same fate.

I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan, but...

...in a how to book that Mr Koontz wrote on writing best selling fiction he talked about being careful not to make the nemesis of the story so evil that you loose your reader. This book crossed that line for me. I finished it, but near the end was so disturbed by the evil of the character that it was pretty difficult to do so.
I won't give away any of the ending but I came away feeling less than satisfied by it.
overall, I'm still giving it 4 stars but I have grown accustomed to giving this author's works 5, so this one fell a little short for me.

First Knootz

THis is my first of Mr. Knootz books. I enjoyed it, although it did drag in some areas. However, that aside, I look forward to hearing more of his works.

Ok book

This one took me months to finish. I wasn't one of my favorites but it was still good. Love Koontz and will give anything a try that he writes.

Excellent twists. Good character development. I have always enjoyed Koontz and this is no exception.

NEW AGE MUSIC IS FOR THOSE WHO FIND ELEVATOR MUSIC

TOO COMPLICATED.
ONE OF THE VIRTUES OF THE DEAD WAS PATIENCE.
I am Mr. Impatience and I almost gave out during the first two hours. The first two hours describes a car accident, but it is described in poetry form. The colorful, flowery words, served mostly to draw out a 15 minute event into two hours. After that things got a lot better. The story got more interesting with a very unusual bad guy and the poetry stopped. The bad guy is the star of the show and you want to stay long enough to hear about his childhood and how he started killing.

THE DEAD STAY DEAD AND THE LIVING ONLY WANT TO JOIN THEM
I am a Koontz fan and some of his books will live in my mind forever. I enjoyed this book as I listened to it, but I guarantee you that a month from now, I will not, without some help, remember the story line of this book. It has been a couple of days and I had to read my notes to remember what it was about. This was written in 1992, as Koontz was coming out of his boring, preachy books and moving more into suspense. There is some preaching in this and some interesting questions about death. If you can get this on sale, I would say go ahead, but I would not waste a credit.

Kramer and Read have been around for a while, but before them there was Hanson and Cowen. They have done a lot of books together and most of them are on tape. Anytime you get a chance to hear them, you should take it, they make all books better.

Loved it.

I've always been a fan of Dean Koontz. This seems like classic Koontz novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The ending was not a surprise, although it left me with ideas how the characters could go on and make a new novel or series. I enjoyed the characters. especially Regina and the doctor. The narration was spot on as well.
