About this listen

As the new property manager of the failing eight-hundred-unit Mesquite Ridge Apartments, Eliza Hawkins must quickly increase occupancy and meet budgeted revenue goals if she wants to keep her job. What she doesn’t understand until her first day is that she’s stepped into a toxic team culture. Realizing this will be the greatest leadership challenge of her career, she turns to her mentor for guidance and is introduced to the rainforest team culture leadership framework. In order to achieve the company’s financial targets, Eliza begins the journey of changing her team’s cultural ecosystem by focusing on the two areas in which every manager has the biggest impact: employee satisfaction and engagement.

Through calls to action at the end of each chapter, listeners are invited to reflect on the complexities of entrepreneurship, balancing human development with profitability, and the potential impact the rainforest team culture leadership framework could have on their own leadership journey.

"This is an opportunity to understand that business is an ecosystem just like nature, and the best part is you get a framework to navigate through this new perspective within the fundamentals of Conscious Capitalism." (Thomas Eckschmidt, coauthor of Conscious Capitalism Field Guide)

"Just the right mix of authenticity, transparency, and advice for leaders new and old." (Kristen Hadeed, author of Permission to Screw Up)

An engrossing book that will be an invaluable addition to your managerial tool box.

Mr. Kae presents clear and detailed steps on how to create the essential supportive work environment in an easily digestible, entertaining, and at times, moving story.

Although the setting of the story is in a property management environment, Mr. Kae’s calls to action allow you to easily translate the skills you learn by putting them to practice in your everyday life, not just career.

Excellent guide for those that manage a team

I truly enjoyed this book, as someone that has managed teams. It really breaks down ways to build a healthy team dynamic and that being a true leader is really about people. Having a healthy work culture benefits everyone and I really like the storyline has so many examples. The narrator was terrific and made it engaging. I will definitely recommend this to my peers.

There’s now a new meaning for “Make it rain”

Having been in leadership positions for over three decades I failed myself forward for most of my earliest years. Had there been a book such as this, I would have found direction & confidence as a leader much sooner. It’s a fun & memorable story that touches on the real life moments of managers. And although the lean is into property management, the value of the leadership lessons is transferable to all leadership roles. A fun refresher for those in long held habits of leadership days gone by and a must read for new managers & future leaders in all fields. Well done!
