About this listen

Best-selling author Patrick Lencioni's three previous business fables have sold nearly 350,000 copies. His latest takes on the most dreaded company activity...meetings - why we hate them, why we shouldn't, and how to make them great

The thought of meetings makes most business people miserable, but they're a critical and unavoidable part of what we do. Through fictional narrative, modeling, and practical solutions, Lencioni shows how to turn meetings from painful and tedious to productive, compelling, and even energizing.

The story follows an executive who finds his job on the line and his future dependent on his ability to dramatically improve his disastrous meetings. An irreverent graduate student comes into the picture with fresh ideas and a new perspective to help the executive turn things around.

This engrossing and concise audiobook will help improve morale, effectiveness, and the bottom line at the office.

What did you love best about Death by Meeting?

I love that you don't have to sit and listen to all the principles, but how you instead see how the principles were put into place and experienced by people within the setting of the meeting. It's not what you expect. It's better!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death by Meeting?

Can we talk about something other than the **** company picnic!!

What about Jack Arthur’s performance did you like?

He told the story well and kept it moving without losing the right pauses.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Never again...

Having tested some of these ideas, I am convinced execution of these will add 10-15 points of growth! Can you afford not to implement?

Imagine wanting to attend meetings....

The choice to use a self-serving narrative caused a couple of initial heavy sighs and eye rolls but the points were so valid I give it a pass for using story telling to sell the lesson.
I can see areas that this would work well for my team, particularly using controversy to get our teams engaged in their interconnectivity, currently we have a lot of "islands" that could best serve the organization if they saw themselves as a part of the whole.

interesting delivery

I am a huge fan of Patrick Lencioni. Sure his main point can be boiled down to fit on one page but the story he crafts helps bring the he points to life and make them more memorable.

As with other books of his, this didn't disappoint!!

Huge Lencioni fan!

This was a very easy listen. The story flowed well, and I could picture myself sitting at the table with everyone else. Great ideas.

Many who have dismissed the book due to the fable, are failing to understand the power to help others on their teams grasp the point of the book.

Some already see the problem of bad meetings, yet they assume their team sees the problem as clearly as they do. They don’t. That is the point of the fable. It makes it easy for your team to enter into the struggle of bad meetings, and bridge to their own bad meetings.

The Story Helps the Point Stick

Estaba cansada de tantas juntas, y en algún momento sentí que era lo único que hacía en mi trabajo. Después de leer este libro me queda claro lo que debo reforzar y lo que debo eliminar para tener juntas productivas y ver los resultados.
