About this listen

Born of Viking stock, careered into the Swedish Navy, Sven Ericsson finds himself in the fabled New World. Away from the restraints of society, the young Northman is dragged into long nights of debauchery, nights that lead him into the waiting arms of a dark beauty who will change his very nature forever.

Fighting his new unnatural status, Sven steers clear of humanity, skulking along the fringe of society, and filling his inhuman need with the blood of the outcasts or the easily forgotten. A shadow among the shadows...until extraordinary events, centuries later, force him to emerge from the dark. A mishap of his own making pits Sven Ericsson into a moral quandary that will remind him what it means to be a warrior.

He is a killer. A fighter.

And a Hunter of his own kind.

Monsters Hunting Monsters

Interesting twist on the amoral vampire as semi good guy. Throw in some other vampires, lycans and a Nephalim and you have an interesting mix. The story takes some unexpected turns that I won't spoil. Suffice it to say that the main character acts in his own best interest.
There's the usual plot lines, all female vamps are sexy, all males are handsome and the twain do meet.
Apparently blood type does matter, so if you are O+, you may have a higher risk of being a taste treat. Beware!
Some plot lines seem a bit undeveloped or are quickly introduced without enough backstory. The whole becoming a Hunter theme seems a bit rushed and convenient.
All in all a fairly good effort with a setup for a sequel or series.
Maxwell Zener seems to struggle a bit with the accents, but overall does a decent job of narration.

A little short but really good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I really liked this book, I just wish it were longer. It was like a viking version of Blade or Black Irish. The narration was pretty good and there was plenty of actiona. There was even some humor, which I enjoy in a book. All in all, I think this is worth checking out.

If You Make It Past the Opening, A Decent Story

I was taken aback by the somewhat sensual opening between the main character and his lover. I don't read book for a 50 shades' type of entertainment...

Having said that, I pushed onward and discovered a somewhat unique take on vampires and the vampire hunter trope.

The story and narrator was both mediocre to me, but I may give another of the author's works a try as the action scenes were well done.

All-in-all not too bad!

Hunter is a fairly interesting story of a vampire. His story starts out in the 16th century and quickly lands in present day. The characters backgrounds of the main players are developed pretty well and much of the vampire lore is interesting. There is a little humor and light romance, but there are some confusing elements. All-in-all it’s not a bad story though and is an easy recommendation for urban fantasy/paranormal fans. Three.point.five. On the fence

I really enjoyed Mr. Stallcup's. Monster Squad series and was looking forward to this being just as good. For me it was not, not bad but not great. The male lead seemed to be naive for his age and supposedly being a womanizer. The characters were interesting and I was sad to see how Orville's character ended.
The narrator did a great job, good choice.

FUN VAMPIRE/MONSTER TALE

A unique and entertaining vampire hunter story, I really enjoyed listening.

I thought it was well written and the narrator did a great job. I was drawn in from the beginning, it was dark, twisted and full of twists - FUN!

Had an Angel/Buffy-esque feel to it, but all in all a great listen and I loved it!

Time passer

Nothing exceptional, but not really bad either. Narration was spotty, really robotic at times. Story was OK, very predictable and was hard to really like the main character, he was bland at best. Was free and passed some time.

I liked it!

Enjoyed both the book and the narrator. It seemed to be a different take on the vampire world with some interesting plot twists thrown in. Thought it was well worth the time and credit.

Not for me.

I found the book to be predictable not just in plot but characters as well. The narrator is not the best that I have listened to but he is OK like the book. This one is not for me but others might like it more then I did.

interesting to listen to

pretty good vampire story and great narration.

the story was solid

the MC allows himself to get carried along by whatever situation he finds himself in. It made for an interesting and different story type.
