About this listen

Lachlan Maclean will do whatever it takes to protect his clan - even if it means abducting the most willful woman in the Highlands with the secret intention of wooing her for marriage. A leader possessing brute strength and an imposing command, Lachlan is unprepared for the beautiful spitfire Flora MacLeod, who jeopardizes his plans to save his clan and digs beneath his hard, chiseled exterior to expose a tenderness that may be his undoing.

The greatest marriage prize in the Highlands, Flora is determined at all costs to avoid her mother's fate of being bartered away as a political pawn. Vowing to make her captor pay for his ruthlessness, she boldly engages him in a battle of wills, sweetening the challenge with dangerous passion - even as the lingering curse and deadly ghosts of a past tragedy reach out to thwart a tender love that has yet to be spoken.

Beautiful love story that was intense!

This is my fourth book that I’ve read by this author, I truly truly love her work! The story line the characters everything works so smoothly throughout the book. It didn’t disappoint! For the main characters Lauchlin and Flora may have had a rough start, but their love ended with a beautiful beginning.

Nothin' better than a Scotsman

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, (in fact I did already) These are great books with amazing historical accuracy. You get lost listening. I love Antony Ferguson's voice

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highlander Unchained?

The Prologue which is the story of the Lady Elizabeth Campbell Maclean was betrayed by her Husband The Chief Maclean, as he plots her murder, making it look like an accident. He does this because he wishes to remarry a women who can give him heirs .. The guy is quite an #%^#^* so like a good scorned wife, she curses her husband's clan for centuries.... Very dramatic story...

Which scene was your favorite?

Flora Macleod is kidnapped at the beginning of the book. Halfway through the story another attempt is made to kidnap her from her previous kidnapper. Is was quite humorous.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a scene where Fiona attempts to escape by way of the sea... but, she can't swim.Lachlan ( her kidnapper) saves her, and they both realize each others importance.

Any additional comments?

This is book 3 in the Macleod's of Skye series. It wasn't my favourite, but it was still one of the best books by Monica Macarty.

Too slow

The narrator is the best. It's ok if you don't mind dragging boring chat. Story doesn't do much till half way through. This one wasn't for me.

1/2 Good & 1/2 Bad

The story starts out good, and actually has a pretty good story line, but it only covers about half the audiobook. The other half is taken up with her description of her kidnapper's strong body, face, hair, etc. and him describing her attributes ... of them telling what they would like to do to each other, and with what they actually do to each other.

I think this book would be better if they have an abridged copy. The story would be entertaining if it didn't move so slowly, because of the many 'filler words'.

I didn't know about the narrator at first, because of the way he structures and emphasizes his sentences, but once you get used to it, he's actually quite good. He has a nice voice, and does pretty good with female voices.

I don't know if I would recommend it, but it's better than some others I've heard lately.

Detailed Rape

There is a sexually explicit rape scene of a young girl written from the arousal perspective of the rapist. It wasn’t necessary to write it this way or with such detail to craft the villain and is deeply unsettling.
