About this listen

My boss. My sin.

I’m not the type who has one-night stands.

It wasn’t supposed to happen, okay?

A couple of drinks and a sinful British accent later and I’m in bed with a stranger.

Of course, I left first thing in the morning because I’m a responsible adult.

An adult who has a new job that I need in order to keep my double life a secret.

Little did I know I’m not, in fact, responsible.

Because the stranger I left in bed? Yeah, he’s not a stranger after all.

He’s my new boss.

Knox Van Doren might have a charming smile, but a true villain lurks beneath it all.

And like any villain, he’ll use my sin against me....

Empire of Sin is a complete stand-alone. No other books should be listened to prior to this.

Spicy and Suspenseful!

“Empire of Sin” is a spicy, angsty, dirty delight. The chemistry between Knox and Anastasia is sizzling hot.

Anastasia has been living under the close eye of her father. However, one night she sneaks out to have a night to just live. While out she meets a mysterious British man and they have a passionate one night stand. But one night stands don’t always remain anonymous when Anastasia runs into Knox at her new job where he is a junior partner. And she has a few secrets of her own as does Knox.

Wow, this book was spicy and full of suspense. The tension and chemistry between Anastasia and Knox was delicious. Knox had a terrible past that broke my heart. But he was able to work through some of it with the help of Anastasia and a difficult court case. Anastasia is a character who starts out scared but you get to see her grow and become a strong woman. I loved the secondary characters, the friends from back home and Daniel who lives in NYC. They help had a little light on the darker parts of the story.

John Hartley and Vanessa Edwin were perfect as Knox and Anastasia. John has a growly, delicious voice that you’ll just want to listen to all day. Vanessa brings such a emotional vulnerability to her performance and was the perfect Anastasia.

Heart-pounding and Steamy Romance!

Empire of Sin is an emotional, breathtaking, and sizzling romance. Knox and Anastasia had one clandestine, passionate night together, not knowing each others real names, and never expecting to see each other again, ever. Anastasia had a reason for what she did, in preparation for escaping her life and the dangerous people in it. She assumes a new identity and finds a job, keeping a low profile. Unfortunately for her, it's in the same law firm where Knox works. He recognizes her instantly, even with the color changes to her eyes and hair. He couldn't forget the fiery, passionate woman he met that night, and hated that she lied to him. This new version of her was different, skittish, yet brave, and he needed more of her. He loved the contradiction of her dainty yet adventurous spirit. Anastasia loved how safe she felt with Knox. She was drawn to his protective dominance, how he listened to her nerdy stories, and how fun he was when his walls were down. As they begin to open their hearts to each other and begin to see a possible future together, Anastasia's dangerous past finds her again. They didn't realize how much their lives were intertwined and now she is putting Knox's life at risk. Will she be able to save him or will she run again, breaking both their hearts? I was so captivated by this steamy and suspenseful story. Knox and Anastasia are so perfect together, challenging each other, helping to break through their thick walls of loneliness and pain. I loved how Anastasia found the strength to take control of her life while helping Knox feel worthy of love, and Knox with his relentless pursuit to make her his, while doing whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Narrators John Hartley, and Vanessa Edwin were amazing as they brought this story to life. Hartley's voice was perfect for the powerful, intense, yet vulnerable Knox. Edwin nailed Anastasia's edgy yet courageous character with a quiet strength perfectly. I loved listening to them both as they drew me in and made this story even more exciting and sizzling.

Knox: Dark Warrior of Justice

I’ve been waiting for this story since the Throne Duet! Knox is a successful and arrogant playboy attorney. Anastasia is the quiet IT girl who is hiding an intense background. Together they just click even though Ana is fighting her hardest to resist.

•Love how Knox knew it was Anastasia right away at work and there was no time wasted figuring it out. His dominance and confidence was so sexy! There are some nice dominant smexcy scenes too 🔥
•Loved the cameos of Empire crew, mafia peeps, and of course the guy group chats. The visit from Elsa, Teal and Ethan was just perfection!
Epilogue was amazing 😻

Narration by John and Vanessa was great! Would have been perfect if it was duet though.

Brilliant Story & Narration🎧 Sinfully Amazing!

Rina Kent continues to wow me with another amazing novel set in her “Empire” series, a series of standalone books, each one featuring different lead characters, some characters appear in each other’s books but you do not have to know their story to enjoy the books. But I will say, each book is as amazing as the other, and no two are alike, all new and original storylines and plots which make the series even more special and unique. This book drew me in immediately, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. I also found the two lead characters intriguing from the moment they were first introduced with a determined and brave Anastasia out by herself in a bar looking for a hookup, something she has never done before. And then he sits next to her, a gorgeous man with a British accent, an arrogant man with fire in his eyes and exudes trouble. Instead of running, she stayed, and together they had a memorable and steamy one-night stand before she disappears during the night, leaving him wanting more until he finds out she was not entirely truthful to him. Knox Van Doren does not like liars and that is exactly what she was. Anastasia escapes from her life and reinvents herself, changes her appearance and her name to hide her true identity, she is now Jane Shaw. Jane gets a tech job in the IT department of the prestigious law firm, Weaver & Shaw. The last person she imagined running into was him, her one-night stand, and he recognizes her despite her disguise and gives her a hard time about being a liar. She denies his allegations, but he is relentless and is determined to find out what her deal is. The chemistry between these two is explosive but Knox refuses to entertain it or a liar, but he could only deny himself for so long. Anastasia/Jane is determined to not reveal who she really is, not just for her sake but for those around her too. And she is not the only one with secrets and past demons, Knox has a closet full of his own. The back and forth banter between this two is remarkable, as is when they give in to their desires. The complexity to these characters and the world building is phenomenal. It was great to learn more about both of them and to watch as the layers of ice around Knox’s heart started to thaw. I admired Anastasia for her bravery and for standing up to what she believed in. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully written and plotted enemies to lovers romance novel, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some smoking hot loving. Rina Kent, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, once again Rina Kent chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. John Hartley and Vanessa Edwin are wonderfully talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that is a perfect fit to that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound, accents and all. Vanessa Edwin’s Anastasia was spot on, she grasped her strength and determination, as well as her vulnerabilities and insecurities when she showed them. John Hartley nailed it as Knox grasped his angry alpha-tude right from the start, even softened him up a tad when he started to thaw. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen!

Empire

Empire of Sin (Empire #2) is a dual pov lovestory. The narrative is intriguing with this dark and twisted tale. Secrets and lies intricately weaved throughout this dark umbra romance. Smexy times and sinful ending.

John Hartley, Vanessa Edwin dual pov was excellent. I loved John's inflection, it's hot and his portrayal of Knox was just right. Vanessa is a talented narrator and she brought out Anastasia's character.

Loved it! Sinful, racy and awesome narration!

Oh Rina Kent, I just love her stories and once again she gives us an indulging steamy treat with Empire of Sin, and OH it is sinful indeed with lots of spice, racy dirty talk, dangerous liaisons and all the feels’ emotions.

Knox van Doren, I already loved his (side) character in the Royal Elite series and finally, here he is, grown from an enigmatic, cocky teen with a tortured soul into a dominant possessive man whose childhood trauma is still edged deep into his soul! He has met his match in Anastasia and their chemistry is mysterious and sizzling from the start. Anastasia ends up having a one-night stand with this charming devilish handsome Brit, but what she didn’t expect was to ever see him again, especially not as her new boss! Once Knox sets eyes on Anastasia again, he senses that she is not only hiding behind her appearance but carries a much more dangerous secret.

Vanessa Edwin and John Hartley narrate in Dual POV and give a brilliant performance bringing Rina´s words to life! I absolutely FLOVE Vanessa Edwin, her performances are always flawless, she conveys the innocence and vulnerability of Anastasia so perfectly. She also has one of my favourite male voices as it gives me goosebumps every time and makes me swoon a little. John Hartley´s voice has a nice deep growly tone and he gives us a great alpha performance imitating Knox.
I have always had a soft spot for Ronan Astor from the Royal Elite series and am so happy he appears along with Teal (Knox´s Twin sister) and the other bad boys. The banter between all of them is just THE BEST. There are also familiar faces popping up from the Throne Duet. It´s a collision of worlds but it can certainly be read/listened to as a standalone. Can´t wait for Daniels’s story with Empire of Hate.

Might be my fav of the series so far

I’ve read the first and fourth book, so this was actually my 3rd of the series to read/listen to - and might actually be my fav. I loved Knox and Anastasia, as they both worked so hard to keep their pasts and true identities hidden from eachother while also being incapable of not completely being drawn to eachother. I loved the way Knox was so insistent on what he wanted, from day 1, and I loved the strong brave FMC that Anastasia was.

The narrators were AMAZING, especially with the accents! Legit perfection!!

Incredible!!!

This book had me from the beginning to the end! I highly recommend this book, especially the audio version. Listening to the hot sexy British accent of Knox by way of John Hartley is so intoxicating. Vanessa Edwin does a great job as Anastasia as well, but I do love a great British accent and Hartley didn't disappoint. The storyline is great as well. It keeps you captivated and engaged to the end.

Spellbinding story and narration!!!

Empire of Sin, an Audiobook by Rina Kent is the exciting story of Knox and Anastasia (Jane). I was so swept up into the story of these characters, I couldn’t stop listening!!! She just got a new job and is out celebrating…when she meets Knox. They hit it off…but both have secrets….both are running from their pasts…both are haunted by things that they keep buried.
I LOVED this story!!!! These characters are beautifully wrought, well-defined, and completely mesmerizing to the listener!!! I adore Knox…so complex, protective, and caring. Anastasia is strong, independent, and committed. Can’t wait for more in this phenomenal series!!!

This Audiobook was narrated by John Hartley and Vanessa Edwin. Hartley’s Russian accent just sends chills down my spine!! Thoroughly enjoyed his performance of all the characters!! Vanessa did an excellent job as well, though some of the Russian words were mildly mispronounced. Overall, I was thrilled with their performances!!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this Audiobook.
