Acerca de esta escucha

From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new stand-alone dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.

I caught the attention of a monster.

I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming.

But the moment I do, it’s too late.

Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.

He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.

The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.

I do.

And that will cost me everything.

I run, but the thing about monsters?

They always chase.

This book is a dark unconventional romance and contains themes that aren't to everyone's liking. Please check the author's note in the ebook for content warnings before listening.

Why, in the name of all that is good and holy would you have multiple voice actors but have them imitate each other’s voices during a conversation

HOLY SMOKES! What a deliciously depraved and fantastically addicting beginning to the next generation. Rina has taken all of the dynamic darkness, toxic obsession, and epic drama that characterized the first generation of our stories and has amplified it ten fold with their children. This story CONSUMED ME! I devoured it, ravenously, and I am completely and utterly enamored, totally rabidly addicted to this series. But prepare yourself friends, this is next level crazy from these characters! This is Rina at her best!

Killian and Glyndon. OH MY THE DARK CHEMISTRY! I wasn’t expecting the series to start here, but I am so glad these two characters are our beginning. Rina is setting a tone for this second generation iteration of this world. Heed the trigger warnings, this is full on control, dub-con/non-con tension. This is the furthest thing from a safe or conventional romance. It’s dark, the type of romance where you question just why you are into their dynamic, yet you can’t stop compulsively turning the pages. And I just ate it up. The psychology of it, the toxicity, the dynamism of their connection was just so beautiful done. The juxtaposition of power and control, the tension of longing and resistance, the CRAVINGS. But Rina also gives this relationship plenty of space to grow and evolve, while still keeping its edge.

Killian is EVERYTHING I want in a Rina hero- he’s ruthless, unhinged, irredeemably manipulative. And he OWNS you. He’s stoic in his pursuit of Glyndon- his desire to get underneath her skin and consume her is his obsession. But there is a lot going on under the cold and detached facade, and I loved how brilliantly that tied into the dynamics and history of his parents. ANd I loved him with Glyndon- the contrasts of their personalities create great tension, but also make them perfectly matched. They couldn’t be more different, and their relationship begins in a truly questionable way, but I adored watching them figure out just how much their souls crave each other. Killian wants to own and debauch, and sweet Glyndon craves his focus. They're hot together, but what I loved most is how similar they actually are. Their insecurities, the baggage they have from their own families and friends, are eerily aligned- they’ve just manifested their pain in their own ways. In malice, and in seclusion. They heal and empower each other, despite their toxic beginnings. Killian finds peace with her- softens enough to no longer is just about his desires but his need to make HER desires and physical and emotional needs some to fruition. And we see her find her spine, she’s no less controlled by him, but suddenly it's less about him taking it from her and her GIVING it. It’s like the dynamic transforms from toxic to healthy, though still messed up. Even with all the drama and darkness and sexiness and danger, thematically this is a story about accepting yourself and paving your own path, about growing up.

Fans of Rina’s other series will love how past characters come into play- the way all the world's combine together so seamlessly. She brilliantly planned this, and it’s magic to watch them all collide. The perfect balance of nostalgic vibes and a new focus. And, the new ensemble is amazing. I can’t wait for all of their books. Not to mention, there is a lot of humor alongside some major suspense. We have some funny banter alongside all the heat and danger.

Of course, now everyone has all the theories about who and what is next- but I am loving this series so far- I have a feeling it will be my new favorite from Rina!

Vocal Performance was amazing. I love that we have so many narrators for each POV, and the accents and emotive expression were on point. The main female narrator brought the vulnerability I anticipated for Glynn, and Killian's narrator brought all his stoic intensity. Obsessed.

EPIC SECOND GENERATION BEGINNING- CONSUMING!

The voice of Glyn was nice... Killian on the other hand... I mean the voice was sexy as hell but I don't know, when I read it for the first time I imagine a voice a little bit more in his 20 and this one was... more what I was expecting for Jeremy.
I got used to it because of the acting skills, I got chills only for that, the performance, holy jesus. was amazing.
The story is great I must say, it's not for everyone but this book worth it.

I listened to it only bc I couldn't stop

Omg wow was this AMAZING! I listened to it in one day and could not put it down!! Aiden King was always my 2nd favorite. Cole has my number one spot. But wow has Killian stole the show! It was so fun revisiting this world and see my favorites all grown up 🤍. Without giving too much go in blind and enjoy the ride!! I can’t wait for the second book!

Killian is the new Aiden King!

Amazing series continuation… (I reread “All the Lies” and “All the Truths” duet to refresh my memory regarding Asher and Reina.)
Killian is one of my favorite heroes to date. Glendon got a little whiney towards the end for me. But not enough to have me decrease my 5 star rating.
As for the narration… I read quite a few negative reviews regarding the main narrators. Enough that I ended up buying the book as well and got through the first half actually reading it on my kindle. I finally got to a point in the book that I couldn’t put it down but had to leave so I pulled out the audible version. For me it wasn’t that bad. The female narrator I thought was pretty good; and we all know that Sebastian York’s version of a British accent and his female voice impersonation are not his strongest attributes! His regular narrative voice is so good-it didn’t bother me that he sounded older than 19 (there are younger sounding narrators out there for sure). Anyway just thought I’d throw that out there since there are many reviews that do not favor this books narration, and I found that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
Definitely worth a credit and a listen.

2nd Generation is ❤️- narration isn’t that bad

The beginning was a little slow but ended up great! I read the series of the parents a long time ago. I wish I could have remembered them a little better but I read a lot of books so my memory is a little fuzzy. Anyhow, can't wait to listen to the next book

Loved it!

This audio was great. narration was perfect. if you do not pay attention you will miss important information and wow did the story send me on a ride. Well worth the read or listen. The spice is nice in this as well, not to much but just right for the darkness of this romance.

Worth the time
