I love time loop storylines!

I found that I generally enjoy reading time loop storylines. And 100th Run is no exception. This is the story of Anthony and his 100th attempt at saving as many humans as possible when earth is taken over by a system. A system that is run by chaos and placed there solely to entertain the watcher's that thrive on seeing people struggle and die! Anthony struggle is real and good. He doesn't want power or wealth, he just wants the human race to live while giving the system his middle finger in the process. Hopefully he can do it without getting caught. Otherwise everything he's done up till now, is for naught.
I've never heard Daniel Thomas May before, take it from me, he's great.

Becoming a villain to save

This was interesting. Are main character. Repeat that the same time. Over and over again. To get stronger. He finally chose to be a villain so that another person would be a hero and save more lives. . I like where the story going.
And I can't wait to find out what happened next.

Great book!

I really enjoyed this one! The premise of a time loop is very intriguing! I like the main character and his semi ocd for his stat numbers and wanting things to be aesthetically pleasing. Some minor spoilers ahead. Going through a time loop 99 times with some lasting years and not losing the memory of it. His mental age has got to be counted in centuries. That would mess someone up in the head. Especially with everything he has to do to save as many people as he can. And you can see that in the way he interacts with people and how he talks out loud to himself. I like the idea of a mc not being all there or having to struggle. Makes them more relatable.
Also. Is it a dog? I need to know.
Would recommend this book to a friend, and already have.

Great spin on the regressor trope!

I very much enjoyed listening to this book. The concept of just following the regressor's final run works really well, and the overall mwchanics are fairly well balanced to make him stronger bit not so much so that there is no true conflict. I love that even the first couple things the MC tries to do go awry because he is different, knowing this is hisnlast run.

The narration was excellent and really brought the characters to life. I will definitely be getting the next book when it comes out.

Ready for book 2

Book deserved a higher rating it’s not a 4.8 but at least a 4.7 or 4.6

It’s good one thing the author does particularly well is imagery with furniture and non human anatomy

Loved it

I loved this book! It had a lot of the elements that I enjoy out of a regression novel. There was an OP MC, a cool magic system and a fast moving, high intensity plot. The narrator did a s good job too. Can’t wait for the next book!

A Man with a Plan

This book is amazing. Unlike many of the lesser so-called "regression" stories, our Main Character really feels like he knows what he's doing - not that he's just godly overpowered, he instead sprints through the first few days like a speedrunner, hitting every critical objective with effective planning, concentrated effort, and no small bit of desperate tension. He feels like a seasoned professional while also avoiding dipping into the "demigod of combat and precision" we see in other stories.

Not that that's inherently a bad thing - Perfect Run showed us how that peak of skill and repetition can be more than enjoyable enough, but the grounded main character of 100th Run is quite enjoyable in his own way. He has human reactions, makes mistakes, and we can only sit here and dread the butterfly effect. But that isn't to say he's bad at this - he's really, really good at what he does. After all, that's the only way to beat the apocalypse.

I fully recommend this book to all readers. For those interested in how it matches up to other time loop stories, it's like a more grounded Perfect Run, the first book of Feedback Loop, or Mother of Learning if we started when we exited the loop.


PS. Regarding those reviews that complain about him being "whinny" and overly emotional, I have no idea what they're talking about. Yes, he has emotions, and yes, he's sentimental in sections. The thing is, he's under an incredible amount of pressure of this being the final run - no do-overs, no mistakes. On top of being mildly insane. And while I don't want to spoil anything, he's not just being sappy when he caves to his emotions in certain situations - he's being actively manipulated into those altruistic "do-gooder" acts, for better or worse. He's not a neutered MC. He's a complex one. I wish people would learn to see the difference.

Unexpectedly fun.

A standard timeloop story typically proceeds along a well defined path, with the MC mostly attempting to glean some secret that allows them to finish the story/exit the loop. This book is somewhat different in that, although the MC has a *statistical* understanding of what's happening (based on the 99 previous runs), the specifics of the scenario change almost immediately -- not least of which because the main enemy is actively working to make things hard for the MC. This focus shift seems to have elevated the story above the average.

Of course, the MC is still drastically overpowered because they use the foreknowledge they have to acquire powerful abilities/items early in the story, but that's to be expected.

Overall, a light but enjoyable listen.

Pointless speed bumps

The MC is overly sentimental and self-compromising. He will look for reasons to feel bad. And it just seems off for someone who’s had all those experiences to be so inexperienced in managing their emotions. It is that thing where the author constantly wants to show how much of a nice/good guy he is. It just takes something away from the story and character for me.
