Publisher's summary

Beers. Oktoberfest. The Apocalypse.

Leading astrophysicist Liam Jackson is participating in a scientist exchange program in Germany when a curveball of universal proportions is thrown at him. Planes fall from the sky, cars explode, and strange particles rain down from the heavens as monsters appear out of thin air.

The laws of physics have changed in the world. The fundamental forces of the universe are behaving differently, and Liam needs to understand them if he wants to survive.

Physics of the Apocalypse is a LitRPG series that combines the wonders of the cosmos with magic and science. Find out what base-building can look like in a medieval castle, how 3D printing can be used to create magic items, and how spacetime, nuclear, and quantum physics are combined with spellcasting.

Amazing read!

Can't express how much fun this read is. Seeing the various litRPG tropes explained in SciFi-level detail is an absolute delight. It's a much slower read than the usual LitRPG, but it pays off big time at the end. This book elevates the genre, and I'm glad to have read it.

Loved it

What a great party for the Apocloypse! A Quantim Physicist, an active duty Serviceman, a Pharmacist DJ and an Enforcer enter a bar... Smart Science based LITRPG makes for a great adventure! Well read and written. I'm off to book 2.

Very Good all around. Top 10 in genre. Minimal Complaints. Written with a refreshingly more mature adult mindset.

Good all around, Minor side character depth issues, But it's all within acceptable levels and overall the book is quite good. My only weird complaint is that every chapter has one of those Historical Qoutes as a header. You'll stumble across this rarely in books.. Either they have real world quotes or "Historical" quotes from the fantasy world. it's usually annoying to find in a book. it's annoying in this book.

Worth checking out

The pacing is a bit slower than books in this genre normally are, but in this case they take the time to flesh out the characters and the situation. It's really well done. MC doesn't really start playing with magic until like 10 hrs into the story ...but all of the foundational stuff is important.

Once the magic starts, the pacing is still pretty slow ...but I like how the MC's astrophysics background serves as the basis of his magic. It's OP in the best way.

The narrator does a great job, but IMO he's too subdued. He needs to try to be more hyped up for the fight scenes. This is one of those rare instances where I feel like I wud've enjoyed the story more if I read it for myself.

Also, they totally should have gotten actual auto-tune for the magically drug infused fight scene. Definitely a missed opportunity.

A scientist at the end of the world

Liam meeting his army friend at the Oktoberfest when the world ends. On the cover, that roadway is the Autobahn. The apocalypse has three main parts:
1. The laws of physics change. This causes cars and guns to explode.
2. Monsters portal into the world. Alien monsters, like bears with horns.
3. Everyone gets a gaming interface.

Liam is more a scientist than a hero. The science is okay. However, there's a simple experiment that isn't tried early: cracking a whip. The main character is more a trope scientist than an actual Feynman type. Still, the science discussions are reasonable.

I really liked it. The monsters and general situation are different than most of what I've seen.

Wonderful logic mixed with pseudologic

SPOILER
A plan that takes weeks to account for 'all variables', but does not account for an obvious antagonist. Predictable and boring lowlight to an otherwise refreshing, scientifically minded story.
