Great story of a Roman girl and a Pict king who fall in love against all odds.😍

Love conquers all!

This was such a fascinating story. What an imagination this author has. The descriptive details and the story line are incredible. The trials the two main characters went through was exhilarating and captivating. Strong, well developed secondary characters as well.
This was the wrong story for narrator Shiloh Grey.
She did not do the story justice and in fact was a terrible distraction. Her voice would do well with Regency stories, something dainty. If you can set her narrating to the back of your mind, you will enjoy this most fascinating story. I would still get this book & ignore the narrator’s voice. It’s really quite a story & well worth getting.

My type of hero!

Thanks for such a lovely story. I did enjoy listening to it and would have love to know an epilogue of when they had kids together, etc.

Just a nice story, the narrator have such a sweet voice, I get used to it and learned to love it, I was hoping Valeria was pregnant that would have been a wonderful ending,overall loved the story.

I liked the person who orated the book.

I like the time period and it kept my interest. I liked the characters and the plot.

Terrible story. Average narration. Not good enough to be on Audible.

Where to begin? This story is supposed to occur in ancient times during the Roman occupation of Britain, but the storyline is crippled by glaring historical inconsistencies. A quick superficial Wikipedia search reveals:

Roman occupation of Britain was from AD 43 to AD 410. Christianity wasn’t the official state religion of Rome until AD 391. The term “Pict” was invented by Roman writers around 297 CE to refer to the different tribes of northern Britain. There was no tribe called the “Picts.” Side-saddles weren’t invented until the late 14th century. The term “milady” wasn’t used in antiquity.

I have listed above a tiny fraction of the inconsistencies throughout this work of fiction. The entire plot collapses under the weight of so many things that could not have existed at the same time. The author insults readers with this junk, and Audible does great damage to any expectations of quality by including this title.

Good story

Story line was good, but the narrator I didn’t care for. Probably my least favorite book from this author & that is mainly down to the narrator.

Narrator not right for this kind of story

I am used to female narrators who can give a believable male voice. Her voices are all...well, hers. Even a male narrator who can deliver a believable female voice would be better. Antony Ferguson? Dave Geillis? Or my favorite, Tim Campbell.
The story has taken literary license to a whole new level, but it is, after all, fiction.
It's a fun listen...once. I doubt if I'll queue it up for a second listen.
