Men with ADHD are often overlooked, leaving many who are struggling with their abilities to feel isolated or confused about what they're experiencing. • Find out what's been going on in your head all these years
  • Achieve personal goals without feeling like you're struggling against yourself

Narrator made it awful

I am not sure who or even what “Helpful Matthew” is but this reading was terrible. It completely took away from the material and I eventually sped up the recording to 1.3x just to get through it. He reads as if he were a terrible form of A.I. and was programmed in his inflection. If not, it appears Helpful Matthew either did not read the material before switching on the mic, or took no notes when he did. Edgar Wise should be upset this book is presented with such distracting narration, especially when this is a book for guys that are easily distracted. I will avoid any book ever read by this narrator because of this reading.

Made a lot of sense

While listening to the book, I heard a lot of behaviors being described that mimicked my own. It was good to feel like someone else understood how I thought/process new info.

Informative

I learned a bit more about ADHD. I appreciate the book, but most of what I heard I’d known already. Great book.

Good info, horrible voice over/execution

Im a person with ADHD, trying to use this to help myself. I figure thats probably the use case for most here. That being, said, I constantly was distracted by the lack of self editing this voice over artist had. Over and over, it seemed they thought the sentence had a certain tone in the beginning of the sentence, but when the tone had to change, they just kept going like they didnt give one frick how it came it out sounding. That, and the frequent mispronunciation was just dreadful to trudge through while listening. Anyway, do better voice over guy. Theres a thing called editing you should look into.

Surface Level Info

No real depth in the book or research done beyond quoting others. Better books out there in this topic.

It's not bad.

But.. It's not as helpful as you may think it will be. I'm sure it's meant to be read multiple times. The book even mentions that it shouldn't be read from front to back. Instead it says to go directly to the chapter that applies to the situation you're experiencing. If the information if what you are looking for then that's great.

I was hoping for more

My 11-year-old grandson has ADHD and listening to other books, to see if I could help him, I came across this book. Though I was beginning to wonder about myself, this book didn't help me mych.

Irritating narrator, computer generated, AI.

I have difficulty describing, just how irritating it is to be distracted by the voice of the audiobook when the subject matter is ADHD. What happened to humans reading books? The piece is funny, the words are accented incorrectly, and awkwardly throughout this book, making it difficult to listen to.

Boring tripe

They took a subject that could be interesting and made it boring. They could have provided information in a helpful manner, but they dragged out every paragraph with rhetoric and tone of mild silly drama.

I quit listening to it after a few slow chapters, then later tried again. It was still unengaging and annoying to listen to as it rambled off the obvious.

If they knew anything about ADD, why wouldn’t they make their book engaging?!?

Weak.

Mediocre Writing Read by a Useless A.I.

Please do not use a credit on this. If I could get my credit back, I would. If you find this book secondhand for less than $10, it’s probably a great buy. However, the writing is not exceptional. This is compounded by the fact that the “helpful Matthew“ that reads the book is almost unintelligible due to the strange speech patterns and reflections it uses.
