Definitely not bad! I’m a huge fan of Eden / Elle Mae but I wasn’t enamored by the writing in this one. Story was pretty good, and the first half of the book was about 4 stars. However i found the narrator to be lacking; rushing and sometimes a bit robotic.

I really wanted to love this book. The idea was amazing—the age gap, the tension, the action, and some truly emotional moments that hit hard. One scene in particular made me cry because it captured a feeling I deeply relate to: the longing for a different life, for things to have turned out better. The action was abrupt but engaging, and some of the intimate scenes had potential.

However, the writing itself really took away from the experience. There were constant interruptions in the middle of dialogue or action for unnecessary details, making it hard to stay engaged. At the same time, important plot points weren’t explained properly, leaving gaps in the story. The relationship between the main characters had moments of intensity, but the emotional connection wasn’t fully developed—it often felt like physical attraction was the main focus.

Absolutely obsessed with the narration of this book. I listened to it in one sitting. Some parts really got me touching grass outside. So so hot 🥵

This is an incredible book. A book that I didn’t think had any effect on me other than the parts I'm intentionally reading(or listening to) it for. I can’t sleep and I've never been so emotionally involved in a book like this before. I can’t help but feel the whole gamut of human emotion; I’m not trying to feel this way, but I can’t help it. It was supposed to be a nice way to end my night but instead I'm five hours in and my knuckles are white from bite marks due to the emotions this book has me involuntarily producing. I’m unable to control my hatred and a good part of this book has me boiling, forcing me to grasp for hope. It feels as though the author intends this and gives the smallest pockets of air in this pool of angry suffocation. Fortunately it’s not just anger, it's hope, fear, and excitement bundled up into emotional suspense so powerful… I feel at the mercy of Eden Emory, unable to put the book down, entranced, but right now, in all the worst ways. Beside the obvious compunction over my own desires throughout this book, I felt that single, undeniable emotion throughout this read; to clarify, none of this is a complaint but giving an explanation of just how phenomenal this book was for me. The writing forcing the world around me to melt away. I have fallen in love with Elle Mae’s books. 100/10

I ate this up. This was so good!! I’ve been looking for a good dark romance for ff and this was exactly I was looking for! Some of the things that were said had me jaw dropped! Truly. Eden Emory is a new auto buy for me!

Ax and Nyx burn like an inferno 🔥💥🔥💥
It didn't matter that they found themselves in an impossible situation - Nyx being the ex of Ax's son - they still couldn't keep away from each other. It was 🤌🥰

And this is just book 1....so excited to continue the series!!
