In "The Westminster Murders," alliances will be tested, scandals will surface, and the line between politics and personal vendettas will blur. As the clock ticks, Camille and her unlikely comrades must unravel a web of deceit before the halls of power claim another victim.

Chief Inspector Richard Owen dresses carefully at his house in Chiswick. He is due to meet Lady Camille Divine at Café Bonbon, a well-known nightclub, after a six-week separation when he decided to visit his late wife’s relatives in the South of France. He is due to go back to work at Scotland Yard after a two-month sabbatical, but he and Camille have some unfinished business.

A letter arrives for Camille at her sumptuous hotel in Manhattan. She is surprised anyone knows of her presence in New York, so opens it with wonder. The envelope is closed with a seal she recognizes; a family of some note within New York society. She frowns, speculating on its contents. The letter is a request to attend a gala at New York's famous Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. Her help has been entreated to solve a matter of national importance, with the letter's writer asking Camille for her utmost discretion.

Accompanied by her loyal maid and friend, Cecily Nugent, they arrive at Selfridges giggling with excitement, but unknown to them, their afternoon of delights was to take a very different turn. Yet again, Camille and Cecily are called upon to utilize their sleuthing skills to find a murderer.

The war in Europe still rages in 1918. Carrie's work with convalescing soldiers continues. The Belgian refugees have returned to their homeland, leaving behind a request for her to visit when the war is over, one she readily accepts. The day of Arnold's funeral has passed, much to Carrie's relief, but her mind still conjures with the knowledge she holds about the gold and diamond Star of David pin found near Arnold's body.

When Carrie discovers Arnold's secret, she is determined to make a life for herself in Secunderabad. She still pines for home in Whitechapel, even though she isn't sure what would be waiting for her should she ever return. She knows if Arnold has his way, she will be in Secunderabad, as his wife and hostess, a trophy wife, until he has reached the pinnacle of his ambitions.

Tom Alexander has no memory of his life at House in the Hills orphanage at the outskirts of Sarajevo or of his birth parents - the ones whose faces he wants to see but doesn't remember.
