Aufgrund einer nicht tolerierten Liebesbeziehung wird der Hauslehrer Jeronimo eingesperrt und die Tochter des Hausherrn, Donna Josephe, in ein Karmeliterkloster gebracht, wo diese ihr Kind gebärt.
