An einem schönen Sommertag fuhr ein Mühlknecht einen mit Mehl beladenen Karren nach Queienfeld, das keine Mühle hat und deshalb in anderen Ortschaften mahlen lässt. Unterwegs kam er an einem hellen und klaren Bach vorüber. Es war in der Mittagsstunde und er sah den Otterkönig, der schneeweiß war und eine goldene Krone auf dem Haupt trug, daherkommen, die Krone am Ufer ins Gras legen und zum Bad in das klare Wasser steigen.

Als die Kirche zu Dittis erbaut wurde, ging allerlei Komisches dabei vor. Die Kirche war zwar erbaut, aber die Fenster waren vergessen, und so kam es, dass vor Dunkelheit niemand darin sehen konnte. Lange wurde hin und her beraten, wie es wohl anzufangen sei, den Tag in die Kirche zu bringen, und endlich, nach vielen Debatten über Für und Wider, wurde von dem weisen Ortsvorstand beschlossen, einen Eilboten nach Fulda zu schicken, dass dieser dort dem löblichen Magistrat die Verlegenheit der guten Dittisser vortrage oder schriftlich überreiche und bitte, ihm den Tag für die Kirche mitzugeben.
