I recorded this the day after we lost one of our beloved pets. Rainbow Bridge is the theme of several works of poetry written in the 1980s and 1990s that speak of an other-worldly place where pets go upon death, eventually to be reunited with their owners. It brings a lump to my throat, and often a tear to my eye but also comfort as I recall good times with Pongo.

Ptahhotep was a vizier in ancient Egypt who was known for his influential wisdom literature. The teachings in this book emphasize the importance of humility, faithfulness to one's own duties, and that silence really can be golden. One of the major reasons why this book is so interesting is because it shows that Black people actually wrote in that time period.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is an incarnation of Krishna who appeared in Nadia, West Bengal, India in the 15th century AD. When Krishna spoke Bhagavad-gita on the battlefield of Kurukshetra around 3,000 BC, He exhibited all the majesty of God himself. His final instruction to Arjuna was that surrendering to him is superior to all other religious duties. Fast-forward to the late 15th century West Bengal, India. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu then appeared, as predicted in the Bhagavad-gita.

The Bhagavad Gita is set in a narrative framework of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Krishna. At the start of the Dharma Yudha (righteous war) between Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna is filled with great moral dilemma and despair about the violence and death the war will cause in the battle against his own kin. He wonders if he should renounce and seeks Krishna's counsel, whose answers and discourse constitute the Bhagavad Gita.

This unnamed soldier joined up with Wellington's forces against the wish of his parents, and served right through the Peninsular War and also fought at Waterloo. This book contains his experiences in the field during all that time. He recounts his part in the various battles and the privations the men had to suffer through.
