An Englishman stops at an inn during his trip through Transylvania. He decides to wander around in a carriage despite the approaching night; darkness doesn't seem to worry him. He sets off but after a while the horses get scared by howling wolfs. The Englishman continues by foot and suddenly finds himself in a snowy and gloomy cemetery. This would not be that big of a problem if this specific night was not the so called Walpurgis Night, or in other words the time when spirits leave their graves to haunt the living.

"The Squaw" is not your typical horror story but the brutality of it will take by surprise even the biggest horror fiction fan. Bram Stoker introduces us to a couple on a honeymoon and an American tourist whom they meet in Nuremberg, Germany. Squire Stephen Norman is lord of the manor in Normanstead. He marries Margaret Rowly, younger sister of his friend Rowly (squire of the neighboring town). Dracula's Guest and Other Weird Stories is a collection of shorter works on the strange and the macabre, first published in 1914, two years after Stoker's death. The title story "Dracula's Guest" is believed to be the deleted first chapter of Stoker's masterpiece, Dracula. The narrator encounters a strange woman during his stay at the Kilmarnock Arms, a small hotel that was actually located in the town of Cruden Bay and that Stoker himself frequented. The strange woman educates the narrator about the Second Sight, giving the listener a closer look into the supernatural elements that Stoker was so fond of.

"The Squaw" is a short horror story by the Irish author Bram Stoker. It first appeared in print on December 2, 1893 in the British magazine Holly Leaves the Christmas Number of the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News. It was republished in 1914 as part of the anthology Dracula's Guest and Other Weird Stories. The story describes in gory detail how an American tourist in the German city of Nuremberg accidentally kills a kitten. It goes on to describe, in equally gory detail, how the kitten's mother gets revenge on the American.
