    Alison was an avid runner, having run daily for 520 days straight when she had an accident hiking in New Zealand and had to be airlifted out of the area where she was traversing volcanoes.

    In this interview, Alison shares how she turned a difficult situation of temporarily losing her independence into pursuing her dreams—learning a language, writing a book and starting not one, but two podcasts.

  • #92 How Breast Cancer Taught Angela Crawford to Advocate in Every Area of Her Life

    In my 100th episode, Angela Crawford shares her journey with breast cancer and how it taught her to advocate in every area of her life.

    Angela shares what the journey taught her about herself, how she approached it and how every cancer story is different. She's uplifting and takes away a lot of the fear.

    A few of the takeaways include:

    1)We have to advocate for our own health. No one else is going to do it for us.

    2) If you're going to talk to someone who's gone through the same thing, talk to someone who is going to be a positive influence, not someone who is going to scare you.

    3)Every cancer story is different.

    4)Sometimes we have to stop listening to other people and get quiet with ourselves. We have go within to figure out our own journey.

    5)God puts people in front of us when we need them.

    6)Her breast cancer is a bump in the road, one small part in life. It doesn't define her.

    7)We're in a stage we're losing our parents, but if we weren't in this stage, we wouldn't be seeing our children grow up and have their own families. It's a cycle.

    These are only a few of the many take aways. This is a very special interview. It's inspiring and thoughtful and hopefully like me, you'll walk away feeling more empowered.

    We're wired to think negative. When you're feeling stressed or having negative thoughts, make a chart with two columns—draw a line down the middle of a page. On one side, write all those negative, fearful thoughts. One the other side, write down the opposite/positive, hopeful thoughts. All of it is make believe—the positive and the negative. But we're used to rehearsing the negative, so we have to give equal time to the positive.

    Once you have your list, rehearse the positive several times a day and visualize it.

  • #090 Do you spend more time criticizing your body or complimenting it?

    Are you critical of your body or are you supportive and complimentary to your body?

    We don't just have a body. We are our body.

    Let that sink in for a moment. You are your body.

    Do you listen to your body when you're tired? Do you get up and go to sleep?

    When you have to go to the bathroom, do you get up and go? Or do you wait because you don't want to excuse yourself from something or someone?

    Is there a part of your body that you constantly criticize?

    Instead flip the script and consider how much that body part supports you?

    In this short, episode, I suggest a meditation on how to show your body that you appreciate and love it.
