Narrator makes it hard to listen
The story seems to be interesting enough to try the first book, although slightly confusing. Part of the problem is the narrator. His reading is accentuated weird parts and overall sort of made it hard for me to get into it.

The narration was overly dramatic.
I’ve heard so much about this series so decided to start with this novella. To see if I would like it. I wanted to stop it several times because of the narration. A 14 y/o boy doesn’t have a voice like that. It was all distracting to the story line and often times overly dramatic.

Lionel is the worst!!! I feel like he is only going to get worse as the series goes on. I loved getting a glimpse into Darius and Lance's relationship and can't wait to see how it affects the rest of the books!

Love the Story, Struggled w/ Darius
I'm not sure why I struggled with Jake's performance of Darius in this audiobook. But it was a struggle to enjoy his voice, it felt too deep and off. It's hard for me to explain as it felt like he was trying to speak from low in his belly. It was a bit distracting despite how much I enjoyed this story. I felt like this was a great starting point to understanding Zodiac Academy and Darius Acrux.
My heart broke for Lance Orion, but this story makes more sense on why he doesn't get to follow his dreams. It gave me a lot more background. It also sets the stage for what is happening with Darius and his fellow Heirs. This is a quick story but needed if you go down the Zodiac Academy rabbit hole.

Can’t get enough
I absolutely loved this!!! Hearing Darius and Lance when they still had hope and were not wrapped up in the things that come later in the series is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Love the authors love the narrators, I am 100% a twisted sisters groupie at this point.
