Great story, solid writing if you don't mind numerous pov shifts

Really enjoyed the set and setting of this book, with a lot of unexpectedly dark and graphic depictions of violence with elements of horror (one series of events reminded me quite a bit of the monster from The Thing). Very light on the gamelit aspects but if you don't mind numerous pov shifts (got old imo) with sometimes little focus on MC, this was a solid listen and I'm glad I picked it up. Narration from this performer was solid as usual. Looking forward to picking up the next book to see where this goes, would just hope for less pov shifts and stronger focus on the MC.

Interesting Story Wrapped in a Terrible LitRPG

A pilot that has known war all his life is isekaid to a world on it's last crippled leg. He learns about the world through the help of the "Last Guardian" dryad, and later decides to protect her, and any who comes to them for refuge. Against odds that...are beyond impossible, the MC, with his plane and knowledge of War, will save those that all but seem to be unlucky enough to still be alive in such a bleak time.

The idea is actually pretty cool. Unfortunately, there's a litrpg system that makes absolutely no sense, other than to provide the main characters exactly what they need, when they need it. The system, as well as the overabundance of story narrative that overtakes most of the character interactions, immersive world-building and development, makes this series (with a lot of potential) look like it will be just another story that might be as fun as it is shallow.

On a really plus side. The audiobook is wonderfully narrated.

interesting take on the isekai mold

The magic system seem like an arbitrary means to give the MC what he needs with out depth or any real explanation. The application of what seems like Ww1-2 era warfare to a fantasy world really plays to the DND nerd in me and Tess Irondale whom I a fan of does an excellent job

decent but very repetitive

is an interesting concept but implemented pretty poorly its just a repeat of a wave attacks they fight it off then they prepare for the next one then repeat.
