Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast. Greg’s disappearance leads Stacy into this world of zealots, skeptical law enforcement, and a former rock star turned conspiracy radio host, Reid Singer. Stacy and Reid team up to uncover the truth about the otherworldly religious mythology before them. Will Stacy find her husband and bring down the cult? All will be revealed by the end of Tribulation.

About the Performer
Josh Charles is an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG Award, and Critics’ Choice–nominated film, television, and stage actor. He was most recently seen in the films Framing DeLorean, Amateur, Norman, The Drowning, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Freeheld, I Smile Back, and in Bird People for director Pascale Ferran. It’s worth a listen.
It had me on my toes at first. It’s scary and thrilling but I found myself getting lost throughout it. I had to rewind it and try to understand. It’s gruesome with the sounds and makes your imagination really wonder what was happening. But 3 stars because I got lost two many times with them going in and out of the frequency. Entertaining and worth a shot.

A little turbulence for this tribulation
This was mediocre, at best. The sound effects were a bit over the top and the story dragged on for a bit too long. It started off great, but then it just got tedious and a bit predictable. I don't give up on stories, but I was glad when it was over.

Language bothersome
This is very entertaining sci-fi, and I found the story captivating and well performed.
My only gripe is that the bad language is bothersome and at times, rather offensive. It can be unnecessary and cringeworthy and I felt that it distracted from an otherwise great listening experience.
If you can listen past this, the story is well worth the time.

Disappointing
I was hoping for some great stuff! While the performance was really good, the story was really not that good, and it was NOT conducive to an audiobook. As a movie, maybe, but given that the characters are going across planes of existence, it’s really hard to just “hear” where people are, and “where” they are is a huge part of the story. So I didn’t think it was that great.

it was good, butttt I feel like it woulda been a lot better if I could watch it, or a regular audio book because a lot of the time it was just noises and they did not help to let you know what was going on.

Amazingly creepy in all the right ways!
First it has all the elements to draw me in - cults & time travel. The presentation, with sound effects and such, really pushed it over the top! There were times I gasped, or moaned because of how much I was drawn in. It definitely made me second guess listen to the radio in the car!!!
Great story! Great acting! Great presentation! NOt sure if I would listen to it again - just because of HOW much it affected me, but would highly recommend it!!!
