About this listen

Banished, alone, adrift. A new beginning.

Long Wu Ying has been banished from the Verdant Green Waters Sect for defying the orders of the Elders. Forced to prove himself in the outer world before he is allowed to return, Wu Ying begins a journey that will have him visiting old haunts and a new kingdom.

Amidst new cultivators, new politics, and new challenges, Wu Ying must find the center of his dao and rise to the challenge.

Or be forgotten on the steps to immortality.

The Third Kingdom is the seventh novel in the A Thousand Li series, a book on immortal cultivation, wondrous martial arts, evil cultivation sects, and spirit beasts. This series will be loved by those searching for wuxia, xianxia, and progression fantasy works and those looking for a more westernized cultivation story. The Third Kingdom is written by Tao Wong, the best-selling sci-fi and fantasy LitRPG author of the System Apocalypse, Adventures on Brad, and the Hidden Wishes series.

Good story

It was a good story. Though I was not expecting a murder mystery out of this series.

Excellent series

I have loved every step of my journey through this series. This books is a great addition to all of the others, building on each in what feels like a natural progression much like cultivation itself. It also, IMO, invites one to self speculate both inwardly and outwardly tot he world we live.

I look forward to the ongoing adventures/stories.

Thank you Tao Wong for your excellent storytelling!!!

Last book was a war and rescue and this one is a murder mystery

Didn’t really advance story and solved a murder that was obvious 1/3 of the way through

Christmas in July !!

Really enjoyed this next installment of probably my top 3 series in this genre. I have recently gotten bored reading / listening to Xianxia / Western cultivation were the protagonists are sociopaths. Travis Baldree is the reason I had found Tao Wong thru listening thru his other works. This series and Beware of Chicken is my go to to for a re listen when I cannot find something to add to my over 1,000 audiobook library.

Story continues

After a bloody affair in the previous book, The Third Kingdom was a slight letdown in book 7. Tough for Tao Wong to continue delivering amazing stories, but in order to set the next path for Wu Ying, a setup had to occur. Which is what happened here. Still good mind you. But we have been spoiled. DRmz 5-22-24

Interesting new phrase of the journey.

A great addition to the series, although I will admit I missed the characters that got left behind in our protagonist's travels. I know he is temporarily barred from being with his sect, but it's still a little jarring as a reader.

New kingdom

I liked the exploration of a new kingdom and it’s fun to see him at that power level

Best so far!

Love this hidden gem of a series. If you are a fan of martial arts, of fantasy, or intrigue and just good storytelling, this is the series!

Best one yet

This was a really nice change of pace from the other books. We now get to see our boy working on his own with some actual power to his name and only his own choices to worry about.
