Publisher's summary

The surface is frozen. The depths filled with monsters. Can anything survive?

Extreme sub-zero temperatures suffocate the surface. Frozen structures of bygone eras span across massive ice-wastes. And the survivors closely guard any technology rediscovered within them.

The only escape from the deadly climate is beneath the surface, but that doesn't mean it's safe...

Monstrous machines lurk in the depths. Unhinged demigods war against them, dying over and over, treating it all like a game. The depths themselves shift over time, more contraption than rock.

When an expedition into the far uncharted north goes terribly wrong, Keith Winterscar and his father get trapped together in a desperate fight for survival. Stumbling upon an ancient war of titanic scale, the two will need to set their differences aside while they struggle against Gods, legends, and the secrets of the realm that lies below.

Don't miss the start of this Progression Fantasy Epic set around a pseudo-medieval society clinging to existence on frozen post-apocalyptic Earth. Impossible odds, weak-to-strong progression, epic battles, scavenged tech, prophecy, magic, and mystery—12 Miles Below has something for everyone. Grab your copy today!

What a fun world

Was not expecting the "depth" this story had and was pleasantly surprised. Does a great job with painting vivid images of the fights. and the Narrator is fantastic.

Wow this was good.

This was an excellent story.
Great character development.
Cool and cold world building.
Interesting application of tech and magic.
Leaves me wanting the next book as soon as posable.
This was like an excellent primer for a far more Indepth look and adventure in to the subterrain worlds 12 miles below, worth every second of the credit.

Excellent!

An amazing change of pace for the tired and repetitive modern fiction. it feels familiar, but every discovery feels fresh and exciting. I feel like I'm on a journey through a strange future. A feeling of adventure I seldom experience in novels any more. Give it a shot.

A Briliant Story And A Better World

This book is amazing. As mentioned in several other reviews, the blend of technology and magic make for a truly unique setting. Not only is the worldbuilding complex and intriguing, but the ways in which the characters interact with and comprehend it is utterly delightful. This is one of the few books I've ever read where the Divine beings, from what we've been shown so far, are actually worthy of their worship. The cultures and religions of this world are also wonderful, and make perfect sense from the perspectives of the characters and societies that hold them.

Speaking of, the characters are just as amazing. Not only is the main character a smart and interesting person, but his relationships with his father, sister, and clan are all incredibly compelling. Every moment of character depth we get to see is fun and exciting, and it just made me love them more. Time after time, we are shown awesome settings for their character traits to shine through in, and I thoroughly enjoyed every desperate fight.

Everything from the prose to the lore of this book was fantastic. I can't wait for book 2 to come out. I want to know more about the Relic Armor, the Deathless, the Gods, and even the mites! Mark Arrows is a true genius.

I fully recommend this book to everyone, regardless of genre preference.

Not LITRPG…..but amazing

I could find nothing wrong with this book. If I had to nitpick I wish it was more LITRPG’ish….but it’s not that at all. It’s a great book and the author world builds in the best way possible. He doesn’t dumb a bunch of exposition on you. Instead he feeds you how the world turned to shit little by little. I recommend this book.

Amazing world building, slow start.

12 Miles Below has some amazing worldbuilding and ideas. The only thing I really knock it for is a slower start and a slow burn to the "progression" part of the book.

hidden gem

if you are hesitating on whether to spend your credit on this book, my advice is to get it.

the plot is good with good character and world building.
the book will feel like alot has happened but it feels like there is so much more to tell. The narrator did a splendid job as well to bring all the different characters to live. one of the better ones I've heard.

in short, this book feels like a 14hr prolouge to a long and great story. and after listening to it, it left me wanting more.

Interesting & Unique Start

I really enjoyed this first book. I've listened to a lot of progression fantasy stories in the last few years and honestly, most aren't that interesting or entertaining. This story is both of those things and seems like it has space to grow.
