When an airship crashes under mysterious circumstances, the Magebreakers find themselves embroiled in an investigation that takes them across the Audish Channel to foreign shores. In Belgrier, many blame Audish sabotage for the accident, and for the death of the influential nobleman on board—a dear friend of the Belgrian Kaiser. And if Tane and Kadka can't prove otherwise, it could become a diplomatic catastrophe.

But the suspicion of a government that views all Audlanders as dangerous pro-magical radicals isn't the Magebreakers' greatest concern. Nor is the constant obstruction of the Belgrian Guardswoman assigned to supervise them. It's the possibility that an outside hand is influencing events-an enemy they've encountered before.

Great book, great series

Just a big fan of this series in general. The characters and the world feel real as any other

Endo Strikes Back

This book was more polished than the previous one and closer to the first book in the series. There wasn’t a dead give away of the main plot of Endo this time and the pacing was steady throughout.

Looking forward to the next book and hope the improved pacing trend continues.

The narrator is average but but not as good as the first one many characters aren’t as distinctive from one another.

Cackle of Delight

In this part of the series the Magebreakers find themselves in another country where magic users are very strictly controlled and their enemy from the previous books finds the perfect place for the latest round of his plans. I was really annoyed that a certain teenager slipped into the story and was allowed to tag along, but I enjoyed seeing Tane and Kadka learning how to work bits of diplomacy into their normal chaos. Carver is still clever, Kadka is still quick thinking and irrepressible, and I liked the way this one continued to build on the previous plotlines while also setting up the next part of the story. It was a good book and I'm looking forward to the next one.

It was amusing timing: on the same day that I grinned at a line in this book describing Kadka's "cackle of delight" I heard a news commentator deriding Kamala Harris for "cackling" when she laughs. Laugh all you want, ladies. Cackle away! Women who are not afraid to laugh out loud make me happy.

Solid

Ok story with a few twists. Some characters could've made it better. Distracting romance

Steampunk meets Sherlock

It has an engaging cast of characters. each one of the individuals has their own unique method of investigating the different problems set before them. The story flows like few others.
