About this listen

Despite being a young master of the Zearthorn sect, Neave is not a cultivator. And if he can have his way, he never will be.

Years of daily beatings, bullying, and abuse haven’t been enough to make him change his mind, and the ultimatum from his father won’t be either.

Forced to choose between an arranged marriage and a path of cultivation, Neave makes a third choice. In a desperate, last-ditch attempt, he enters a secret vault and encounters a treasure.

A book he should have never touched.

Trapped in a hellish time loop of death and suffering, he fights waves of demons in an impossible challenge of skill, creativity, and perseverance.

What will happen when he finally returns?

Oblivious to the apocalypse he had become.

Unaware of the horrors he had dragged outside.

A book that combines the insanity of a death loop and a condensed version of cultivation that doesn’t pretend to be anything but violent, which may not be everyone’s favorite, but I found it extremely entertaining.

Also the author does use a very light voice for the MC that honestly wasn’t my favorite till it grew on me for the absolute absurdity of someone with that voice doing what they do.

A unique cultivation story that doesn’t pull its punches

Seriously, hearing the main character's name so many times almost had me return the book... Otherwise, it is an enjoyable story but the cultivation system really needs to be explained.

Enjoyable Except for One Thing

much better.

Robert Blaise, I almost gave up on this book in the first several chapters where the MC, Neave, was pulled into a demon realm and force to battle tons of demons before he was returned to the mortal realm. Neave is a strong-willed 11yr old intellectual progeny with a no-filter sarcastic attitude and a potty-mouth that would make a drunken salty sailor blush. On return to the mortal realm, he has attained unimaginable skills but at a cost which will cloud his moral decision-making from that point on. Being a member of cultivation sect and having been mistreated, he easily vanquishes those sect member who had attempted to kill him.

Afterward, he leaves the sect to venture out on his own to gain more power through cultivation and monster killing. Everything around him seems like a tornado, pulling others in with an intent to end him.

If you are interested in a cultivation series that sets itself apart on its own, suffer the first few chapters and stay for what follows.

J.S. Arquin's performance is well done.

It gets better after initial lengthy death re-dos

Well, I’ve been waiting for this type of book for a long time. A cultivation novel with an insane and overpowered MC that's done well. And it delivered as promised, until book three.

With my experience of over 500 Audible titles, I can recommend this book and the next one. Then, wait for book four.

You might ask, what’s wrong with book three? Well, it’s not actually bad, but I expected a totally different story. The escalation happened too fast, and I think we skipped an entire book’s worth of content. At the very least, I was expecting an Auction Arc and a Political Backstabbing Arc, and not to spend a whole book on "that".

Now, I’m waiting for book four, and I’m not sure where the series will go from here.

Pure bliss until book three.

Once the story gets past the time loop training it is decent, but feels more like a setup for the story than the story itself. Hopefully in book 2 we can meet the Jester of Apocalypse since the MC doesn't seem to be the Jester. The narrator kinda makes this a hard listen, not bad, just hard.

Potential

This book was a fun take on cultivation. I really enjoyed the the main character. I blasted through this book in just a couple days I couldn’t put it down.

This is what a cultivation book supposed to be like, there's good, bad, and disgusting ugly things happening in a world where power is everything. Good job.👍👍.

Oh my

Couldn't get past the fact that the main character has the same voice as Justin Roiland uses for Morty. It's eerie. Good story though.

Fun. Read by Morty.
