The Elven Days of Christmas

Piper MacLean’s Christmas is a ho-ho-horror show, but she’s used to all that by now, five years into becoming the de facto matriarch of the family—still single and childless, much to everyone else’s chagrin. But she does have one indulgence every year: finding the perfect Christmas tree.

While searching the national forest, Piper is led to a beautiful spruce by way of magic. Well, not actual magic—magic, of course, doesn’t exist—but it sure feels magical when she hears the voice of her deceased mother floating on the wintery winds, telling her just which tree to chop.

Unfortunately, that very tree actually is quite magical, and accounting for it is the last task that half-elf Kol needs to complete before turning in his annual reports to the Elven Perennial Association. When he discovers the pilfered spruce, he simultaneously finds that the only way to return order to the forest is to endure a human holiday alongside a grumpy and overburdened woman who does not want him around.

Kol doesn’t belong in Piper’s world, but it’s her fault that he’s there, so he doesn’t intend to make things easy for her and announces to her family that he’s her boyfriend, come to visit for Christmas. Surely, that’s the perfect cover for his presence and not at all the start to a ridiculous romance that will either tie up both of their hearts in pristine bows or rip them apart forever.

Cute Christmas Story

I really enjoyed this. It’s not part of the Villains and Virtues universe despite the similar cover art. It takes place in The Vacancy Universe (the Association takes place there too), but you don’t need to read that series to get it. It’s just a cute Christmas story.

A K Caggiano is a special author who tells stories filled to the brim with both humor and a healthy dose of heart. This adult Christmas story is no different. Like a warm wool sweater this seasonal story is all coziness and joy. Enjoy it like an extra present hidden under the tree, and then share it with someone you love.

Sweetest Love Stories

I’m obsessed with this author; her story-telling humor is reminiscent of Monty Python or William Goldman and the stories and characters are modern and sweet and spicy. I especially loved this “Christmas Special” standalone book, it hit all the right spots this season!

If DnD and Hallmark had a baby

Like the title says, this Christmas comfort romance is like if a “fake dating” small town Christmas Hallmark movie had the wacky antics of a silly dungeons and dragons campaign were combined, plus a few steamy scenes. Piper is a relatable, overwhelmed woman any eldest daughter could relate to while Kol makes you forget what “weaponized incompetence” even means. My only “complaint” (if you can call it that) with the story is that I wish Kol’s relationship to the human and elven world was explored more as it pertains to him now and not mostly when he was a kid. A.K. Caggiano is one of the few authors whose stories I can listen to over and over again, and I think a sequel to this story would be adorable!

I am never disappointed with this author or these two narrators. Such a fun listen.

A Remarkable Feat of Wit, Warmth, and Whimsy!

I love this author so much! After reading her “Throne in the Dark” series and this book, she has swiftly become an auto-buy author for me (and I don’t have many of those).

This book is truly packed full of all the witty banter and simmering heat you could ever want! A dual POV gives insight into all of the delicious yearning and affection. In addition to the romance, we also get to see a complicated but endearingly familiar family dynamic that will speak to the hearts of those with big families (like me)!

The narrators are absolutely fantastic. Not a single note, except to say that they are amazing and they add so much to the story!

All in all, this story will keep your heart warm all winter long, and it is sure to make you giggle and kick your (hopefully festive-sock-covered) feet♥️

Adorable Christmas RomCom

I loved this book! The spice is relatively low but very much there, and the story is so heartwarming with plenty of humor as well. I loved this fantasy themed take on the genre!

With just the right amount of spice! Fantastic performance from both narrators. I would definitely re read this one!
